Dont boycott, vote for someone else.

I voted greens in 2015 because i wasnt happy with miliband or cameron as a choice.

Ultimately it was futile as i live in a tory heartland, but it opened up the PR debate in parliament again and they had a vote on a motion put forth by Caroline lucas.

But I am in favour of lower taxation, unless I'm mistaken (which happens often) there's nowhere else for me to turn.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just lower completely? If you support no social structures at all (privatised medicine, schools, police, fireman) then you dont have anywhere to turn.

The lib dems i suppose would be closest, but they arent conservative in the way you seem to wish, but neither really are the Tories, because if they were, they would only get 1% of the vote!

Anybody ever read the HYS on the BBC Brexit articles?

It's astounding stupid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try not to, but I can't help it. Then I get angry and want to do my bit to reduce the overpopualtion problem.

I swear, if I have to leave Germany in March because of these facking s you'll see me on the news for arriving at Dover and belting as many Brexiteers as I possibly can before they take me down.

However PR is a lib dem policy, and seeing as they wont be in power regardless, and they wont be raising taxes if they were (maybe on business, but our business rates are a joke) you could safely lend them your support to highlight the number of people whos votes do not count!

If we end up with a no deal I may join you in that.

Once tariffs are whacked up on all our imports from everywhere, there will be riots anyway.

Thatcher moved our political landscape to the right in the 80's Corbyn for instance has left of centre policies as a democratic socialist.

In the UK however hes seen as far left, in the US his policies until recently were unthinkable, but their choice was between a right wing, and a far right party.

Thats shifting in the US however, with the democrats firmly centrist now in response to trumps policies
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm quite hopeful about the new democrats in the US, hoping this has a snowball effect. Was expecially heartening to see the Sanders and Corbyn campaign teams working together. Besides the UK and US, arguably Brazil and India are lurching to the right as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The lurches to the right are generally (imo) people who are unhappy with the establishment but cant map the political landscape.

eseentially they end up lurching the wrong way because someone offers them easy answers, even though its right wing policies that are causing the destruction of society in favour of the self.

A big problem is Plaid, SNP, lib dems and greens are pretty much the same thing on the two issues that mattter brexit and the economy, as is the Labour membership and most labour MPs. Everyone is falling for the social democrat meme.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The left is split, the right is not - hence the Tories win too much and the left are almost always on opposition.

Frankly I'm boycotting the next election, can't vote for either of the parties that would actually get into power after this circus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think I will be voting either. Lib Dems used to be a viable alternative before 2010. Then they got in bed with the consservatives, regretted it then went too far the other way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah I've just about had enough, no belief in either major party

I don't vote often because it is wasted.

labour got us into debt and lost the plot.. Tories said hold my beer and somehow managed to do an even worse job!

Labour didnt get us in to debt

The issue was a global financial crisis, started by the sub prime mortgage market in the US, we suffered worse than other countries in the fallout because we de-regulated certain banking structures in the 80's under thatcher.

She was written a letter signed by hundreds of leading economists saying it was a mistake, but she found one; Patrick Miniford (the brexit hack...) that agreed with her, she made him her primary advisor and they did it.

Fast forward to 2008 and labour have been reducing the debt for years, that they inherited from the tories, and so on back past the 1900's. And suddenly they were left exposed.. bailed out the banks to protect personal savings for the population and RE-REGULATED THE BANKS. Everyone got made and blamed labour, wouldnt listen to the truth, despite us being in the recession at the time and believed camerons lies (ME INCLUDED, i voted cons in 2010, heavily influenced by my financial co-workers at the age of 23)

What do you think one of the first things the tories did was? try to boost bank profits by de-regulating them again. The next big financial crises is on the horizon, i wonder who will kop the blame this time for conservative short sightedness (A hallmark of their policies)

You're able to shift blame like that when you have a press and ruling class sympathetic to your ideology

Well we all use this site, people like that add nothing to the experience and usually detract from it.

That's a perfectly legitimate claim. After all the deluded fool can think what he wants, just as long as he doesn't actually claim they will win the CL.
