I had a nice leisurely couple of afternoon drinks with wifefrom. Shared a bottle of wine while making and then eating dinner. Had a nice big bourbon barrel aged imperial stout to end the night in front of the Telly.

Lovely Sunday.

My daughter is vegetarian and I cooked a quorn roast.

Now I dont each much meat but fml.

I did however drink a surprisingly good bottle of malbec from Lidl. I know youre supposed to have a white wuth tofu but Im a bit of a maverick.

I lived with a vegetarian once. There’s nothing worse than coming back from a night on the beers, poking around the fridge for late night sustenance and the only option being Linda McCartney sausages. Horrible spongy fake protein

Haha the cauldron ones are decent.

I must admit I did a vegi Christmas dinner last year and ended up making myself a good cut of lamb as I just couldn't handle it. Ate about 8pm!

I go the extra yard for my kid though. She made the decision on her own aged 8 and stuck with it. Love her for that (I'm quite fond of her anyway mind) and she's even given up haribo now.

Ball ache cooking twice sometimes so just join her mostly.

Hey, did I dream this, or is it real....

In response to I think it’s Burger King, who have now got a meatless whopper burger, some other fast food place has gotten rid of all vegetables from their vegetables. Like they have a pork based carrot.

Actually as I type that....,,no more cheese before bed

Sometimes I eat cheese before bed as a cheap trip.true story.

When wifefrom cooks there’ll often be tofu or tempeh involved. Had an awesome tofu green bean soup thing at the weekend. But I do need meat for dinner.

I have to do a veggie and meat Xmas dinner each year. Pain in the hole. Turkey fat in the rosaries, pancetta with the sprouts. Green beans with chicken stock. Everything uses dead animal ffs.

Went down the Dice Cup afterwards which is a board cafe where you can sit and play games and role play, etc, outlet that doesn't serve alcohol.

That shizzle was lit 🔥

Quorn roast is alright with decent gravy, use the leftovers in a chilli ramen

Also its not Tofu...

Not even a product specifically targeted at vegetarians, it was designed to help end world hunger/malnutrition, quite interesting origins Quorn....

I like their products now where they provide the meat substitute and let others season it.. Quorn ginsters pasty and greggs Quorn sausage roll are so so much better than the Quorn own versions.

In fact I also like the greggs vegan roll better than the regular one.

Wait, but two isn’t odd. Best bump it up to 3. Or 5.

Some vegetarian food isn't half bad, it's never as good as the meat equivalent it claims to be, but it's not bad as a food in it's own right.

I'm gonna have a go at being a Veggie next year!

Been really thinking about the supply chain and how we treat our prey in recent years!

I love meat, but I cant get the ethics out of my head

We actually have the highest welfare standards in the world, and i then choose to shop above those standards (such as corn fed free range chicken, grass fed free range beef..)

As a result I also opted to only eat meat three times a week (climate reasons) so I'm saving money, even though I'm spending more on the meat items I do consume.

The beyond meat burger is better than regular burgers, Quorn do a decent range of products, and their crossovers with major food brands are really nice, vivera does nice meat replacement foods too, the shawarma is nice, started making kebabs at home for tea some nights, ( pita bread, vivera shawarma and kimchee slaw.. With mayo/ketchup etc) make our own lentil nut roasts too...

I don't miss meat, when I go to America in October I will probably be a veggie for the week, their animal welfare standards are disgustingly low, as are their hygiene standards in slaughterhouses. Any meat that needs to be rinsed in chlorine to clean the bacteria off is not for me...

Flexatarian is the way forward, limiting meat consumption rather than cutting it out. Eat more fish and have a couple of vegetarian options a week.

Extremes either way are what causes problems.

That's what I do! Genuinely didnt know I was flexitarian.

I love fish but we need, as a planet, to not eat any for two years apparently and all the fish stocks will replenish.

Wont happen of course.

I seen some horrendous things. There's the health benefits too. Eat red meat every day and equivalent to smoking.

They are recovering pretty well across Europe thanks to the quotas,

Whaling is a massive problem though, causing environmental collapse, offshore wind has been used to good effect to increase breeding habitats though also, which will help going forward.
