at red meat every day and equivalent to smoking.
---------------------
Meh. I doubt that is true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can only speak for myself but I definitely feel better for reducing my meat consumption. It is part of a better eating drive overall though so I can't directly attribute anything

Processed meat there are definite risks equivalent to smoking apparently. Either way it increases the risks massively.
The stuff they spray on and inject into vegetables nowadays is probably as bad as eating meat everyday.
You go to a shop in Georgia and tomatoes will look big and deformed but taste amazing. Then here tomatoes are perfectly round and shiny but taste like water.
I just realised I called a tomato a vegetable.
lettuce is washed in chlorine in the eu, why does nobody moan about that but will kick up a fuss about it being done to american chicken

I'm not doubting that at all. What I am saying is that I doubt very much that eating red meat every day is as bad as smoking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some "facts" in this topic are completely false.
I feel sorry for people who are denying themselves the pleasure of meat because of some joke report they read somewhere.
Ive read a lot of conflicting reports over the years but overall as far as I can tell not eating meat doesn't have any major advantage that would make eating it an unwise decision.

There are literally dozens of studies. It's also about the biggest thing you can do to lower your carbon footprint and on top of that mass production of animals is kinda sh!tty
Yeah I wash chicken thighs etc. The amount of crap you remove from it is crazy, blood and all sorts of crap.

How's about we don't chlorinate chicken instead? Easy,

That's my point. You read a study one day and its countered by another study the next day.
You don't even know who funded which study, with interested parties lobbying for studies that favour their product. Independent studies are almost non existent.

its only 'dangerous' if you blast it and let the water splash everywhere. Even then you just clean the side, no different to cleaning the utensils used for chopping up the raw chicken, the bacteria is the same. Though there are some filthy people out there so yeah, it could be a problem for them.
Anyway chlorinated chicken isn't harmful, americans live to around the same as us, maybe a year less, but then id argue its due to americas lack of healthcare for the less fortunate
Have you actually read them though? I've literally never seen one from the last ten years that says eating red meat everyday is good for you where as there are dozens that say it's bad.
Maybe there is a vegetable coalition conspiracy theory to be had but I doubt it.
Yeah, mass prod of all nearly all kinds of meat (red and white) is cringey stuff. Cows, chickens, fish etc. Have to agree there.

Dangerous only if you don't do it right. Crossing the road is dangerous if you don't do it right also. I'm still alive and I'm not eating blood and guts from the chicken.
But yeah, don't chlorinate chicken, or anything for that matter.

As for carbon footprint I don't buy that when it comes to meat. From a single celled organism we have evolved to consume meat and have always had that particular carbon footprint.
If you are interested in lowering your carbon footprint you should start by removing/reducing the unnatural things you've added to your life which have caused your carbon footprint to grow and taking care to source your meat from smaller butcheries or places that meet the required standards.
Denying yourself meat can have negative effects according to some reports and shouldn't be an option anyway, IMO.
