not having children is the greatest thing a person could do for the environment

As for carbon footprint I don't buy that when it comes to meat.

I'm gonna have a go at being a Veggie next year!

Been really thinking about the supply chain and how we treat our prey in recent years!

I love meat, but I cant get the ethics out of my head
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We actually have the highest welfare standards in the world, and i then choose to shop above those standards (such as corn fed free range chicken, grass fed free range beef..)

As a result I also opted to only eat meat three times a week (climate reasons) so I'm saving money, even though I'm spending more on the meat items I do consume.

The beyond meat burger is better than regular burgers, Quorn do a decent range of products, and their crossovers with major food brands are really nice, vivera does nice meat replacement foods too, the shawarma is nice, started making kebabs at home for tea some nights, ( pita bread, vivera shawarma and kimchee slaw.. With mayo/ketchup etc) make our own lentil nut roasts too...

I don't miss meat, when I go to America in October I will probably be a veggie for the week, their animal welfare standards are disgustingly low, as are their hygiene standards in slaughterhouses. Any meat that needs to be rinsed in chlorine to clean the bacteria off is not for me...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I worked for Sainsburys for 8 years and I think you need a tour of some of the 'food sites' and slaughter houses!

Its the horror stories from some of the drivers which has gotten me thinking ever since!

I always remember the duck story notably where all the ducks were put in an industrial acrylic container ready for slaughter (all alive of course).

Apparently there wasnt nearly enough room for them to move as they were all piled on top of each other... What a way to go out aye?

I also think say if there was a higher alien species that farmed us and their excuse was that they are far superior to us and we have precious proteins for their diet!

We would be hypocrites to argue with them imo!

if we want to really do what best for the environment we'd need a large reduction in the world population |(not that i want anyone to die) so i think the world is kinda fecked, nobody is going to cut out all the stuff thats bad for the planet as everybodys life would be alot worse for it

Americans have much higher incidences of food poisoning, salmonella etc than we do too.

The reason their meat is washed in chlorine (then something to remove chlorine) is because their slaughterhouse hygiene standards are so low.

I don't think you can spin that to be acceptable

What do you mean why? Because it is. The mass production of animals, cattle in particular, is appalling for the environment.

We need to look to colonise Mars or something tbf!

Enter those things that we called governments.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
who will do nothing, the kind of steps im thinking are needed wouldnt be accepted by the vast majority of people as it would make their life alot tougher. Plus the people in power wont do something that makes people dislike them, even if its for the good of the planet

I'm not even sure it's debatable that ruminant farming is terrible for the environment and I milk cows..

That said chicken eggs are the lowest pollution source of protein (g of protein per kg co2e)

And some vegetables are as bad for the environment as beef (out of season asparagus notably)

Yes but I'm saying the human race not eating meat isn't a reasonable solution to climate change.

America commissioned I think 7 projects to look into alternative methods of propulsion to get us around space quicker. One managed to prove in theory that the warp coil from Star Trek would actually work but we can't make enough antimatter. Hawking has said it will be what kills us all and we need to find another place to live.

Personally I reckon it will end up like Elysium where there is a posh space station with free healthcare run by Tories.

Got some nice plump and juicy chicken thighs (rinsed and patted dry) marinading in a homemade jerk sauce that my Jamaican coworker gave me.

They’ll grill up nicely tonite. Probably make some cauliflower rice to go with it and have an ice cold Pilsner.

Antibiotic free, but I’ve paid zero attention to where it came from.
