Yeah, I've seen that. Apparently this means his value goes down, not up and it could be why Liverpool have not made a move.

Only to be activated for the end of next season though, no?

PSG managed to knock 20m off Icardi due to covid and we are probably hoping for the same. It does leave us open to other clubs bidding. Chelsea do really want him too and there could be others.

How does the release clause work?

I always thought there was a certain period to get him at the end of this season at £55m and then when the window passes, his release clause goes down but when it does, you can only buy him at the end of the following season or something along those lines.

Even if Chelsea want him, I think they'll also wait, if its true he will be cheaper after the clause expires they'll wait for that. Its a question of whether we bid IMO. If we bid he is ours.

First time I'm hearing this to be honest. So if the clause expires he is forced to stay for another season? How would it work?

posted on 3/6/20

That's the impression I got from everything because they always talking about if you don't get him now, while he might be cheaper later you have to wait another year basically.

posted on 3/6/20

And then you just open yourself up to more clubs bidding for him. That's been the narrative all along.

posted on 3/6/20

The way I have it is the clause expires, his club is forced to negotiate with clubs as he clearly wants to leave and they'll accept less than 55m what with no clause and current circumstances, we bid, he signs. Hopefully its that simple.

posted on 3/6/20

Doubt that they'll accept less with no clause. Just doesn't make sense.

If keeping him is a worse option? or if they need the money then you never know, but yeah, I agree it doesn't make sense at this time .

The tranny thread is for such though.

Could be a case of who blinks first, clear we don’t want to pay the full £50m for him and apparently Leipzig are resigned to losing him.

Hopefully the good relationship between the clubs means we can get it agreed. Need Michael Edwards To do his stuff again.

Liverpool have submitted a loan with option to buy proposal to Barcelona for French winger Ousmane Dembélé in recent days. {@DiMarzio}

Anyone else don't understand the hype about this player? He really isn't that good to be honest.

Skill set wise I like him A LOT.

If we could get him fit and firing he'd be a fantastic addition imo.

You know...I thought it was just Spurs fans that were hating on us if we win the league this season but I see the club is matching their energy too.
