Sven out after three games, crikey if that sort of talk happened here at Leeds where would we be?

We did have a holding player in Wellens and he had a good game IMO. Sven isn't to blame for this - maybe for the home games but not this one.

The diamond system he implemented worked well and he realised 2 up top was the way to go. Waghorn at the minute doesn't deserve a place because he hasn't performed and Howard is on the verge of leaving the club (something I don't agree with mind).

Nugent had another good game and didn't play like he had an injury so that decision was vindicated and there was no need for a Plan B because Plan A worked fine.

We were cruising that game until the ref inexplicably gave the penalty and if any of our players are to blame it's probably Weale for failing to get the cross. We played well today and we have to realise that.

It's still early in the season and if we play like that we'll win more than we lose. To say Sven has two games to save his job is ridiculous.

Unfortunately you are correct!

I said the same last year and got slated but it appears Sven is being found out and more fans are snapping out of this "Sven mania".

I'd love him to prove us wrong but strongly feel he's on a downward slope, question is now how much he can get out of it to move on?

Come on, get a grip!

On another point, anyone looking forward to Claridge on the football league show?! You know he's gonna say it was as blatant a handball as he's ever seen!

I can't believe Leicester fans are surprised at this start of the season. The only people you have to blame are the media for hype you up so badly purely based on the fact you've spent the most money.

Apart from the loan signing of Michael Johnson, you've bought a job load of overpriced Championship-top-half standard players.

Now I know i'll be lambasted as a Birmingham fan, and I know that we are certainly right to be placed amongst the middle to lower order in the Championship. I'm not here to WUM.

I just think that your expectations need to be lowered slightly and lessen the pressure on your team or else you'll be appliying egg to your own faces.

Kaspar Schmiechel - Good keeper but so are the majority of them in this league

Paul Konchesky - Played for Liverpool & West Ham, two of the most media hyped teams. Average.

John Paintsil - Hardly among Fulham's best players when he was there. Found his level.

Matt Mills - Great defender but achieved nothing.

Sean St. Ledger - See Matt Mills

Michael Ball - Best days are well behind him.

Michael Johnson - Quality when he broke into Man City team. Played little football since and will need to get back upto speed quickly. Good signing.

Neil Danns - Average. Promoted with Birmingham but played little part. Good one game, missing the next.

Gelson Fernandes - Never really established himself anywhere, but Sven seems to like him.

David Nugent - Prolific at this level but for all his years at this level, never been promoted.

If I were a Leicester fan, i'd be looking at Play-offs, and then maybe the lowered pressure may aide a surprising automatic promotion finish.

Expectation comes with 10 million spent.

You spend that money, you demand promotion.

thefunmachine,

The quality of the Championship is getting better and better. Therefore £10m is not enough money to 100% guarantee to turn a 10th place team to a promotion winning team.

Fellas, come on now. Had City held on to win 2-1 we wouldn't be having this 'conversation'. I wasn't there, but the BBC Radio 5 Live correspondent at the City Ground (I can't recall his name) reported that the penalty award was unjust and that Matt Mills shouldn't have been penalised.

Yes, I look forward to seeing how Stevie C details it from his 'open plan' showhouse later.

I think we have made astute signings that have all experienced Championship football before and have all succeeded at this level before. One thing we lacked last season was Championship experience so it was important we signed players who had this. Maybe we overspent but that is all relative because the fact is we have the players we wanted at our club and if they lead us to promotion it'll be money well spent.

Kasper Schmiechel - One of the best in the league with a lot of potential and many years ahead of him. 24 is very young in goalkeeper years.

Paul Konchesky - Was very good for Fulham when they got to the Europa final and his face just didn't fit at Liverpool and with shattered confidence struggled at Forest. Needs to start again at a club where he's valued and appreciated and is showing signs this year of being near his best.

John Paintsil - Was another Fulham stalwart in that Europa League side and a proven PL performer and the Fulham fans don't have a bad word to say about him.

Matt Mills - One of the best defenders in this league and what we needed a no-nonsense centre-half and a leader. People forget that he's only 25 and his best days are only just arriving. Could easily play in the Prem and the reason he is here is to achieve things.

Sean St. Ledger - Proven performer at International level and was very good for Preston before his move to 'Boro collapsed. Another who needs a fresh challenge and is perfectly adequate back-up.

Michael Ball - Good enough for back-up and will probably be third choice LB. But as another experienced head in the dressing room who has played football around Europe he could be invaluable.

Michael Johnson - 'Quality when he broke into Man City team. Played little football since and will need to get back upto speed quickly. Good signing.' Agreed. Probably the best signing we've made once we get him fit.

Neil Danns - Has matured since his Birmingham days and shone in a struggling Palace side. Was very goos today and could be a shrewd buy - especially for free.

Gelson Fernandes - Perfect for the Championship. Combative and robust and always putting his foot in and providing steel and backbone in the midfield. Few better at putting out fires in this league.

David Nugent - Works tirelessly for the team and once we get a partner for him, they could be formidable together. Our best player of the season so far and could be another top signing for nothing.

The one thing that jumps out is that all those players have Championship experience and are proven to have performed in this league before which is what will help them gel sooner than many expect.

A more detailed assessment and perhaps a little fairer than mine.

But the point still stands, there is nothing there that should make Leicester out and out title favourites. You've signed a host of decent-to-good players.

My team have spent nothing this summer, but had all of our new signings been in contract with their previous clubs, we'd probably had been looking at close to a £10m outlay to sign them - and we are nowhere near good enough.

'The quality of the Championship is getting better and better. Therefore £10m is not enough money to 100% guarantee to turn a 10th place team to a promotion winning team.'

It should be enough though. At the end of the day if Sven doesn't get us promoted with this money, he has failed. A good manager would get us up with these resources. And he still might do. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation.

As it happens I don't think we've bought badly, we've got a lot of solid championship players, and a few very good players. The problem is we haven't bought enough flair players - strikers and wingers we are short of, despite being strong in other areas.

Harsh to blame Sven for today though, yes he made a mistake bringing Gallagher on, completely the wrong player for that situation.

But other than that he was spot on, got the selection right, we murdered them for 70 minutes and if it wasn't for a very dodgy ref we would have taken 3 points. So lay off Sven tonight.

"But the point still stands, there is nothing there that should make Leicester out and out title favourites. You've signed a host of decent-to-good players."

Your right. What gets you promoted is all your players playing together as a team rather than talented individuals who are just that - 'individual' which is what we had last season. You could argue that all three teams who went up last season had a host of decent-to-good players but they were a team and hence succeeded.

as long as we are together I can't see an issue to be honest

Toaster - don't forget we are in the Championship, so buying good Championship players rather than Premier League players on the way down with no experience is a good and commendable strategy. Your club, infact, has a speciality of building good championship teams and adapting them for the PL, which hardly did you harm (to a point, obviously).

Absolutely right Greatness,

And considering the number of personel that Leicester have drafted in, this make take time to gel. Heaping this amount of pressure on Sven isn't fair and that's exactly what the media are causing - and what some of the Foxes fans need to be wary of.

I think the OP has been reading and believing too much of this hype. Leicester definately have to quality to go up, but they wont run away with it.

The problem we have in the Championship this season is that there are an unbelieveable number of teams with decent-to-good players who, like you said, if they can make a team will achieve promotion.

FanDanns,

"Toaster - don't forget we are in the Championship, so buying good Championship players rather than Premier League players on the way down with no experience is a good and commendable strategy."

Absolutely correct, and you'll find that there are a lot of clubs who have done this - it's just Leicester are more noticeable because they have paid a premium for most of theirs and the manager is Sven Goran Eriksson.

Another case are your opponents today, Nottingham Forest. Installed Steve MacClaren in charge and signed some decent-to-good players. Instantly placed amongst the top five in the division.

Cry your little bin robbing hearts out.

We will see you at Greasy Crisps Stadium later this season and I expect to hear the same amount of complaining and excuse making after that one too.

I think Sven made good signings, probably too many CM's though.
We were very good first half against a very poor forest outfit, however they made changes and I think the tide was turning before the penalty incident ! We can't stamp our authority on a game no matter how much we spend.
Take a look at the Brighton team , apart from goalie and CMS, I don't see any household names, but they are a team on the up !! This firmly suggests it's how players are managed, to get best out of them, which is exactly what some managers can do and perhaps Sven can't ? A certain Mr O'Neill did it for us didn't he ( A cohesive team on a low budget ). I want Sven to succeed , but i'm not too confident he will.

Sven won't be gone by Christmas - I also tend to agree with Emilio (A first) that when Nugent reired injured, the game changed. Gallagher offers nothing in that central role, far too lightweight. This situation would have been ideal for Steve Howard - bought a few free kicks, held the ball up, helped out in defence (alas he appears to have no part to play). This is why we need (in my opinion) 3 more strikers (a decent winger) and two more front men. I would Beckford and Kebe + one other (Maynard would be good, bit there is no way we would get all three)
