Mamba, fair enough reply to my post. Also fair enough that you assumed I was talking about you. I wasn't, so that's now been cleared up.

Winston has clearly got himself a reputation on this site. This thread is tantamount to that. Hence why I felt that some people were coming along and using this thread as an avenue in which to vent about him. That was ultimately quite amusing to me. There is no doubt that Winston gets under the skin of some - the underlying point to my post was to ridicule that. Using the example of him making a valid (and non-contentious point) in regards to his point about Gerrard in this thread. What Winston said about Gerrard is actually pretty much the truth (ok, he got a few dates and terms wrong (which he admitted to as soon as he realised), but the crux of his comments were spot on. You agree with him - so your argument with him isn't about what he has said in this thread. Maybe your argument with him is just in the manner in which he has said it. If that's the case, then its a futile argument, for (as I said in my post) we can all come across as antagonistic on occasion (or even often). My point (the point of my post) was to simply say - let that perceived condescension simply wash over you. It doesn't matter. And it's not your, mine, or anyone else's job to try and put a stop to that. (If we do try, we must invariably know that we will fail, such is the nature of online forums, so it really isn't worth bothering about).

Your first paragraph is exactly what Winston could have done. Just clarify the point and move on. His comment could have rationally been interpreted in a variety of ways. As I said he has copy and pasted the name of the poster he is replying to in his posts but not that one. Thus in my allegation I said he 'seemed to support' the idea. He could have just clarified like you did. Instead we have this trainwreck.
Its nothing personal with him but as you said and as he admitted himself, he has a way with him. Its his choice to be like that so he must live with it. He makes his bed so he must lie in it. If his style is as you say it is then its natural that what happens with him happens. Its like putting a handful of krap on your head and wondering where all the flies are coming from.

Just clarify the point and move on.

That is a good point. A misunderstanding is simply that. It can easily be cleared up. While I could say that it's presumptive (and wrong) of you to think that I was talking specifically about you, I can easily see (based on what *I* had written) why you would come to that conclusion.

2 issues with this.

Firstly, the suggestion that I meant Gerrard was not good enough when I said Scholes was a complete player doesn't make any sense.

Secondly, if you'd just asked me like you have here, rather than being rude and insulting, you may well have received a polite answer and the conversation could have continued.

I am not to blame for your bizarre decision to do that.

You'll see the vast majority of contribution passes without incident.

You'll see most of the handful of arguments are with the same small group of Liverpool fans, who seem to take exception to any comment that doesn't praise a Liverpool player, and use that as an excuse to derail a thread - of course, laying the blame somewhere else.

Absolute hogwash.

Furthermore I did not have to ask Ripley to specify his post further. He understood how his point, though valid, could be interpreted differently and clarified that my take on his comment was not what he intended. Something you seem unable to do though it happens all the time. When I used thee word 'seemed' I left the option of a clarification. In any case I think you are lying about your intention with that comment and have given my reasons for thinking so. I cant prove it but you cant convince me otherwise either. Thats all really.
