What is going on?

I can't argue with most of that really.

I'm not panicking but I am getting a bit nervous - our defence is not going to be good enough as it is. In most areas our depth is questionable.

Pearson doesnt seem too fussed. Infact im not sure we have even been linked to many defenders this summer if any?

The transfer window doesnt close until september and its hugely unlikely we will have 3 defenders injured in such a short space of time anyway.

I did want to spend a bit of money on a top defender or 2 however after last season we owe Pearson a bit of leeway and to come to his own conclusions. Its his job on the line afterall.

Let's not panic until the season has started as we're losing, but I would feel more at ease if we had a right back and solid centre mid added to the squad.

And finally, why are we still chasing another striker?????

Mersey, which striker are we being linked with now?

If it's Slimani, Nigel has dismissed that after the MK Dons game on radio Leicester.

It all seems to have gone quiet on the link for Troy Deeney as well.

I'm referring to the Deeney link which hasn't gone away...

We need another striker and scoring goals is a priority.
Wood not good enough going out on loan prob?
Nugent i don't have faith in him he can't afford to miss all the chances he missed last season.
Vardy my man but not fit.
Leaving our new signing ...Ullas

WE MUST have another striker. Back for picks itself but we do need a LB and a defensive midfielder.

We can only have 25 players in our first team squad but NP has a difficult balance between new players and not losing the team spirit.
What message does GTF send to other prem clubs about LCFC ?

I think this is spot in, I posted something similar a few days back.

I think we are missing pace at the back and strength in midfield. Even Hammond is now being rumoured with a move away, not that he is prem quality.

We haven't added any additional players just replacements. Is the salary cap an issue or does NP have a few up his sleeve. It would be such a shame having taken so long to get to the prem to then not give it a good go and adding some real quality to the side.

Happy with the squad that is present but there just isn't enough of it!

Nev - agree re the strikers. History shows no goals in the prem = relegation. However looking back to the 3 that went last year they shipped in the goals against!

AJB 1 agreed NP will want to play three at the back sometime and we dont have the players yet for it. Although i love Konch whats the OX et al going t o do to him he will be spinning like a top.
But we still have time NP boys don't get this wrong often.
First 6 games could be brutal i'd be happy with 5-6 points out of that.

In Nigel I trust, he knows what he's doing. However it has to be said that he has no Prem experience, this has yet to be acquired, but I'm sure he'll pick things up very quickly. We have a good relationship with Man U, he can always phone Fergie for advice.

What IS going on?

SACK him now!

Pearson out!

Sorry True mate your going to have to try harder than that no ones going to bit.

True blue may well be messing around but some of the posts almost sound like that's what people are thinking.

Panic button mode - its like a throw back to last pre season

Lack pace at the back? I'm not sure that's entirely true because de Laet is rapid, Schlupp is fast, Moore and Wasilewski aren't slow and Morgan has a fast brain.

Most of our conceded goals were from set-pieces so maybe having Ulloa in the box to defend them will make a difference. We didn't concede too many in open play so maybe NP has faith in them and maybe Hopper and Pearson will be good enough to come through? Southampton's youngsters with no PL experience seem to have done alright.

There aren't that many good wingers outside the top six anyway so I'm not panicking too much.

So many fans said before the start of the season that we hadn't improved enough and would struggle to make the play-offs. I thought we would improve sufficiently by being one year more experienced and I was convinced that NP would I bring in the players we needed to win the league.

This season they have all gained in experience again and therefore should be much better again and I have no doubt that NP will be trying to bring in players if possible but I have no doubt he will use the loan market if necessary because I have faith that he and the club know what they're doing far more than we do.

I don't think this is a 'moan' thread, nothing of the sort, if people want to see it like that then so be it. Really difficult to make a point without people jumping all over it.

I think the point is we are all happy with the squad but it isn't big enough and if we get injuries the rest of the squad doesn't look good enough for the prem.

For example, pace in the defence, this is more the central areas, we are lacking here, Moore is the only one with pace and if he doesn't make it or gets injured I don't think Was will be good enough against the very best.

Same in Midfield - Drinkwater and James should get the nod but what happens if one of them get hurt? Hammond, C'mon!! Look at pretty much all the prem sides and they have good strong depth on this area - Steve Bruce said this was the best bit of advice Fergie gave him when promoted.

Remember we cannot loan mid season now so we have to get it right before the season starts, that's all I am saying!!

I agree our strength on the bench in some areas is questionable but I do also believe that NP recognises it to and will be trying to bring in new players, it's just whether he succeeds which remains the doubt for me.

Arro, spot on.
N.P. and his professional team will 'Im sure be well aware of any shortcomings we may have.
They'll be busier than beavers working away trying to rectify things without rushing in and employing the type of player that will destroy the dressing room.
Also just because we didn't pay for some signings, it makes them no less a player than if we had. It's how it works nowadays.
Albrighton, pay £6 million ( not sure of value) or free at end of contract ?
If you were signing this player which option would you take ?
Trust in N.P., not done a bad job so far , has he !
How many of us thought at this time last year we'd be runaway champions, very few if we're honest, that includes me , I must admit I was expecting 8 - 12th after little activity in transfer market.
Onwards and upwards with Nigel's BLUE ARMY !!!!

I fully expected us to do very well and I thought we could win the league because the players would be a year older and NP would bring in the players we needed and he did.

I actually said to my old man after the victory at Millwall that we would win the league and I said after the Derby game that is was a performance of a team who knew they were going to be champions.

I think we need to have a little more faith in what NP is doing because he's proving a lot of people wrong.

Different era and different team and manager, but remember the panic among the fans the year we went up under O'Neill and he only recruited Kasey Keller and Spencer Prior before our big Prem adventure kicked off.

And we ended up 9th and won the League Cup that season...

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's Pearson's goal against MK Dons. Maybe he could provide defensive cover this season? I know Nigel said the step up would be too big, but if he scores any more like this, he'll be demanding a place in the squad!!

Exactly what we need!

Please please please let this rumour be true!

I can remember this time last season when, after a low key transfer window so far, people on this board were resigning themselves to a season of mid-table mediocrity. The squad just wasnt good enough - despite leading us to the playoffs the previous season.

In Nigel we trust - yes. The last thing I want to see is a mass of big names coming in and putting a downer on the players that got us here in such style. We still have a way to go until the transfer window closes. Nigel likes to do the bulk of his business earlier so everyone is clear what they are expected to do for the season, no last minute signings of "sorry son, hes got your place in the team now" This also gives Nigel time to assess what he has and plug any gaps that need plugging.

Well it took a little longer this pre-season, but I can't help being reminded of this thread from last year:

http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/218720

Seriously though I am a bit worried. I don't think our squad has the depth of quality required at Premier League level.

Having said that last year I predicted we'd finish 8th after similar inactivity, but play-offs only at a stretch. I just hope than I'm proven worng again this time around.
