On the coaching front Ally has been a major disappointment as manager
No doubt he was a phenomenal influence in our journey with Walter Smith and our Uefa success in 08 and I will forever be grateful to all the back room staff contribution in that era.
We all thought the legend, ex striker would bring us attacking football "what a myth" that was.
I'd settle for going Dutch maybe Marc Wouters ex coach under big eck and advocaat or michael laudrup giving the right circumstances.
Football philosophy is key and we haven't had one since the advocaat era.
No to butcher, mcCall and Davies oh and Hately
We have come to a unanimous decision that Tommy Craig is the man for the job

Ally will always remain a legend
It's always been the same
You've had burns over the road who ultimately failed as manager and is still one of the biggest legends
Some folk just aren't manager material and super is one of them
I'm more concerned, hearing wispers that managers connected to Ashley that have been out of work for more than 10 years are or have been offered the chance of a short term deal with rangers
The thing about the past three years is I wonder who would have done any better? You can say all you want about player budgets and wages but who would have put up with the amount of grief and pressure that McCoist has had to deal with?
I would bet very few and most would have walked

I've been shot down on here for saying I felt sorry for ally.
" sorry? He's on 800k a year "
Etc etc
But at the end if the day, regardless of wages, it's ally's dream job and he couldn't have got it at a worse time.

One of the main points about fans giving him tons of unwarranted grief is his contracts was agreed by the board when Rangers were 'competing' at CL level. He took a cut while others were lining their pockets in ways which makes the flak aimed at McCoist for his contract fking laughable, while he put a public face on what was a completely rudderless ship.
Fair enough about the football side of things as this is a results driven business, and fans only remember results. Plus we are not financial experts, plus we don't know the half of what's been going on behind the scenes.
McCoist is the easy target in every scenario because of the secrecy of the board. Results haven't been good enough but he has been in charge in our darkest days and put up with an unbelievable amount of abuse.
Some people need to get a sense of perspective and a measured approach instead of lashing out to someone who may not be the best manager in the world, but is at least 100% dyed in the wool Rangers, and would do everything he could for the club

I wonder of McCoist (and Smith) wishes he had been a bit more circumspect in his backing of Charles Green.
Willingly or not the backing of Rangers men who the fans respected was required for the Green plan to succeed.
I know they were getting pretty desperate by then but many people said at the time that they were aiding and abetting the spivs with their support. It really didn't take too much digging to see what Green's MO was with previous struggling companies he got involved with.
As I say I'm sure they didn't intend it but they were foolish in the extreme. When Walter Smith agreed to take on the role as Chairman, a role he was completely unqualified for, Green must have thought xmas had come early.
Ally's public backing was the icing on the cake.
I would therefore contend that Ally needs to shoulder some responsibility for the events that unfolded.

But to call him a spiv like the rest of them is too harsh

That extra 350k he'll now trouser over the next 12 months merely for resigning suggests otherwise
It's not merely for resigning tho, it's wages due by a legal contract
Let's be honest here. Ally has a contract and legally is doing nothing wrong.
However those who defend his actions must know deep down that the honorable course of action would be to walk away.
He doesn't do walking away though, unless he's adequately remunerated of course.
Id rather ally took it than the spivs

its been triggered by his resignation tho.
out of pure sympathy for those made redundant don't you know.
4m he's had out the club in wages and shares in 4 years.
the biggest spiv of them all.
Thats the problem tho, he isn't, not until he trousers some more cash, He is a Rangers mans after all.
21M in wages the board have thrown at him to produce the sheite he has over the last 3 seasons
He's the worst and yet outrageously, the most highly paid manager in Scottish football.
I reckon Ally never did buy into the 'same club' myth, he's not completely stupid. That's why he's not worried about shafting them.
