Also good to see Pearson taking the opportunity yesterday when discussing the incident to re-open the McArthur transfer saga and publicly slag off Uwe Rosler. Class act

Hold on a second-I haven't read through all these threads but has anyone considered the possibility of McArthur saying something that inflamed Nigel? Judging by what he said on Match of the Day it sounds suspiciously like the player might have spoken out of turn, regardless of the collision being accidental.

As a manager he, of course, is supposed to lead by example, but to spout forth "I can look after myself" indicates to me that he (Nigel Pearson) might have received some kind of threat or admonishment from the player.

The fact that McArthur is trying to play it down so much suggests that he probably did say something inappropriate but neither player nor manager seem bothered after the event so it can't be that bad.

Just odd really!

Let us imagine, just for the sake of argument, that McArthur said something outrageously homophobic or racist. If they play that explanation out in public, the player gets punished (probably a multiple-match ban) and so does the manager (probably a big fine and exiled to the stands).

OTOH, if they both stick to "It was just a bit of banter", there's not a lot the authorities can do to either of them. A strong word about how it 'looks bad' perhaps, but what offence can they be punished for if neither club has entered a complaint? It's not as if a punch was thrown, to prove that it wasn't just ragging.

In the cold light of day ( after looking at many stills and videos) the following happened yesterday.
Player collides with NP, NP jokingly holds the player down round the throat ( but it is abundantly clear no pressure is exerted). Both player and NP are smiling/laughing about it at this point, anything more serious would have led to a more forceful reaction from the 4th official and AP who were right on top of the incident. Also if at this point this was a serious incident do we all really think CS would be standing back laughing as can be seen in certain images?
A combination of NP, AP then help the player to his feet.......
THEN
This is where I ask the jury to consider that these events took an unexpected turn for the worst. It is apparent that the player has said something to NP ( maybe F off and die 😀) to which NP has taken exception and held onto his sleeve to prevent him getting back onto the pitch.
This discussion lasts 4-5 seconds after which NP can be seen wagging a finger behind the player as he re-enters the field of play.
To summarise, the initial moments of this incident were understood to be jovial by ALL parties ( some may say that NP is asking for trouble jokingly putting his hands around someone's throat )
Then once the player said something it has turned pear shaped.
Do we need this publicity? NO
BUT IMO this is not as serious as it has been made out.........
I value everyone's opinions on here and this is mine, I have deliberately stepped back so far today to look into it until I have come to an opinion I am comfortable with.
I fully expect to be shot down by certain individuals who will think this is an orchestrated campaign to support NP, but as I stated yesterday if this was proven to be as serious as initial over-reactions were portraying it then he should go.

How many times to we have to say its nothing Banning RL swearing at a journo telling a fan to FO&D. NP has had more of these events this year than every other LCFC manager in history. so do you think its just nothing or personality trait of a Bully.

Well done Nev, as predictable and unbiased as always.
I have never stated anywhere that it is NOTHING, I was just putting my view on things after the dust had settled.
Look at my posts yesterday, I clearly stated if it was as bad as it sounded immediately after a loss where people are rightly upset and frustrated then he should go.
BUT I have tried to give a rational view that is all.

Banning RL - most people agree with his and some players stance in this dispute, as do the club. Nothing to see move along
Swearing at a journo - been done before by MANY managers, not one has lost their job over it. Some journos think they have carte Blanche to be as much a t##t as they want but if someone bites then all hell breaks loose. Nothing to see move along.
Telling a fan too F Off and Die - we have covered that s many times. NP was found guilty of this world ending crime and banned for 1 game, not 3 or 6 or 10 like other managers that have kept their jobs. 1 game.
Again you jump on your favourite word BULLY............
If there was even the hint of this do you think the club, the players, the LMA, PFA, media would not have found a way to make this common knowledge to force him out?
As for " ouch what the reaction for"...... Yet again you let your biase anti NP over reaction come to the fore.
As you can tell your unwavering constant labelling him as a bully is a tad frustrating, but hey ho that's your opinion.

Sorry nothing there that shows that my Baise opinion is wrong sorry imo and thats all NP is a bully whether its media fans players Burnleys manager
As for more important his judgement saying Harry Kane is not good enough for England or we are better on ever level to Burnley.

As for your aggressive attitude to me back off we are debating sorry if you don't like my stance on NP its just an opinion and just as valid or not as anyone else again prove o me he's not and i will apologise straight away bear in mind i know people he has bullied so its not an easy task.

My aggressive attitude?? Where?
I am defending my opinion the same as you, I firmly believe in my stance, same as you do with yours.
Anyway it's irrelevant now, he has gone so we move on. I just hope people's memories are not blinded and remember the good times he bought to our club as well as this seasons frustrations.
