Watched the first two episodes of Iron Fist yesterday and I really don't get the hate at all. It's a bit silly in parts (what superhero story isn't) but I was entertained watching it, much more so in fact than Luke Cage which put me to sleep at times and I ended giving up on.

I have watched and enjoyed all of them so far even Luke cage. But something about iron fist was off. Still watched the whole season but it was a bit meh and the fighting was not so good. For a master his form was awful

They should have gone the Asian recasting route I think. Could have found someone with the on screen martial arts background to pull it off better

Daredevil guy pulled it off not sure he has a martial arts pedigree. This guy just doesn't fit right

Also think maybe they rushed this one, felt rushed, just to get them altogether

Surely with Daredevil it was all stunt doubles?

I found the fight scenes in Iron Fist to be fine for a TV show. Admittedly have only watched the first two episodes.

Looking forward to Defenders now. More so The Punisher getting his own TV show.

I know fight scenes for movies have to be different than real life, so more extension on kicks and "rounder" punches etc but its a pet hate of mine when an "expert" does it lazily or krap

Im assuming its a few vocal comic book fans - but knowing nothing about the character or the stories ive obviously not been "let down" in any way. Though I will say it does just badically feel like a cheap knock off of Daredevil, though that in itself is not necessarily a bad thing.

I can handle entertainment mate I grew up watching Arnie movies and always say that sometimes you just have to watch something that is simply a couple of hours of entertainment

But like I say if Arnie in commando was holding the gun wrong then its a bit much

PS lads wait until you have seen the whole season of iron fist before you make a judgement

Yeah but this one follows a super hero show about a blind guy, a super hero show about a rape victim and a superhero show about a black ex convict.

The Defenders series have attracted a certain type of crowd at this point that loves politics in their shows

I've been reading about how Iron Fist should've been an Asian actor, but I don't really see why unless he's Asian in the comics. People going for diversity just for the sake of it is a bit silly. If it's a case of getting in someone with a better martial arts background, then that makes sense, whatever race.

I'm onto episode 8 and it's alright. For me it's the worst of the 4 so far, but logically it makes sense they'd make the more interesting characters first anyway. I find Danny Rand a bit frustrating and so far I haven't seen any big bad that comes anywhere near the performances of Kingpin, Punisher or Killgrave and to be honest, I found those three more interesting to watch than the title characters.

Worth watching anyway, lots of easter eggs (I'm sure another load that have gone straight over my head) & nods to the others, some good characters and good fight scenes.

I agree it doesnt have to be an Asian casting just because a load of think pieces said so.

I dont think the main actor is particularly interesting/good tbh though and not a good enough fighter. He is probably the least interesting of the Defenders anyway based on the shows (not a comic expert so cant say for within in those)

Yeah I'd agree. His fighting style just doesn't feel nearly as real as Daredevil's, which makes me less immersed than I was with DD. Plus his power levels really seem to fluctuate with no real pattern, like he'll have more difficulty with a random henchman than he will a top assassin.

Maybe it's supposed to indicate him not being focused or something but it doesn't feel quite right to me.

Logan for me is one of the all time greatest comic book movies. Right alongside Dark Knight and Deadpool.

Exactly, I really enjoyed it, and have seen it again since and was just as enjoyable.

But that's it, I would have it down as some kind of masterpiece.
