I have never liked a single Oliver Stone film

I think Tarantino actually described my problem with Stone the best, “His obviousness cancels out his energy, and his energy ramps up his obviousness.”

I am more agnostic on Nolan that most people my age. However, I think Interstellar is masterful. I dont know what USB means in this context, but the revelations in the third act were quite beautiful in my opinion.

Even platoon?

That’s an amazing movie. So many left v rights, good v evils, ideology v ideology in it. Probably my favourite war film.

I’d like to see what Tarantino would do with a war film. He’d have plenty to say I’d imagine, I’m not sure how he’d approach it.

Wall Street is amazing. Platoon. Brilliant. JFK and of course Any Given Sunday.
Didn’t like Natural Born killers.

Inglourious Basturds?

A proper war film. I guess that counts, but he was more focussed in, where platoon had a grander scale. . Doesn’t even come close to platoon mind. No where near it.

Christoph Waltz was immense.

I think the scale if anything was to big with Inglourious Basturds. The three best chapters barely involved the Basturds. The farmhouse scene, the restaurant scene and the bar scene were masterful - much better than Platoon imo - but the stuff with the actual Basturds was grindhouse junk.

I’ll have to give it another watch, but it didn’t grasp me in the way platoon did, not even close. The farmhouse scene was very tense, but no more than many a scene in platoon. The latter even did include a massacre that my lai atrocity, in its own way. Both are great filmmakers, but I’ve definitely enjoyed Oliver stones movies more, he doesn’t rely so much on cheap parlour tricks and dialogue intended to distract that there’s no real momentum.

Inglorious is a fantastic Tarantino movie.

Platoon is good, but Full metal jacket is by far the better film.

I prefer Casino to Goodfellas

Probably because I found the subject matter of gangsters in Vegas more interesting than gangsters in Brooklyn

And Sharon Stone

Not for me. Both are very good movies but I always felt something was missing from fmj. There was something a bit off about it.

Inglorious is one of those films I always meant to watch but never got round to. Is it on Netflix?
