Ok I'll have look for that. I watched Roman Empire on Netflix. Thought it was excellent. And you get the real story of Commodus from Gladiator.

He was a bit of a nutter from what I heard, lived for the games really, liked fighting wild animals etc.,nothing like what gladiator represented him as, every bit as much of a cant though.,

Yeah his real life story is actually way more interesting than the movie. Really needs a movie of it's own.

Murdeted wasn’t he? I’ll give that a watch, the history of Rome is fascinating. By all accounts were too successful in assimilating other cultures, which led to their demise.

That Roman Empire series is ok

They go for the history that they think will be interesting to film though

So they use all the scandalous stuff that might not actually be true, like in the Caligula series

Tacitus for instance is notorious for being a little gossipy at times and writing rumour down as history

There were some massive inaccuracies in the Caesar one tbh. They said he fought in the Third Servile War and advised Crassus on how to fight Spartacus - absolutely no evidence of that at all. He was probably stationed in the East of the empire around that time

Blarny, I’m curious, are you a scholar on time? Or do history at uni? You seem to have a decent level of knowledge on it?

Watched The Lighthouse the other day. Great acting, especially from Willem Dafoe. Definitely not for everyone but I highly enjoyed it. Makes me want to watch more arthouse style thriller/horror movies.

2 and 3 were great.

4 was just odd. I didn't like the ending either. Gonna pretend it doesn't exist.

Like I said above, for me Succession is the best TV show around at the moment. Outstanding.

I watched the whole of Ozark in the summer...brilliant, tried others & quickly decided they aint for me...depends on the subject matter as much as anything

where's this on...sounds my cup of tea actually...

One to see is the Newsroom (about 8 years old) but compelling
Jeff Daniels is brilliant in that...he sets the whole set scene in the very first episode when he addresses a room of students

One asks him "what makes America great"

He goes off into a brilliant diatribe on what makes America not great...It had me at hello
