Dion Dublin with his brother in a pub in Hammersmith. Was a gent and had a chat about where we grew up in leicester. Had a photo taken before he popped off to do some commentary for sky.

bumped into a few in the late 90's and early 2000's through various student jobs. From memory Neil Lennon in a petrol station, and he came over as a really nice, humble guy... I also worked in a nice restaurant in the centre for a while, and waited on a table that included (from memory) Muzzy Izzet, Paul Dickov, and Robbie Savage... the latter of whom thought it was hilarious to tell me that the bathroom smelt of 'Harry Monk'... they do say you should never meet your heroes! The other two came across very well though.

I met Steve Claridge in a pub in Blackpool whilst i was on a stag do. Had a nice chat with him and I brought up the 'shinner' against Crystal Palace which he thoroughly enjoyed regaling to me.

Gordon Banks once borrowed a pair of my Old Man's spare golf shoes at a Pro-am tournament at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club.

And I was in the cubs with John Sjoberg's son.

Bumped into Gordon Banks a few years ago in Disneyland Paris. He was with grand kids. It was the week after we lost 4-3 at Wolves after being 3-0 up at half time. Asked him what went wrong there and he just shook his head and was as disappointed as the rest of us. Lovely bloke. Still the best goalie there's ever been.

Marked Emile Heskey several times on a football pitch and at trials and he was a sound guy. Once I was in goal and he scored 6 against me, I remember just moving out of the way on the last one.

It won't surprise anyone to hear that I bumped in to Frank Worthington in a bookies in Halifax.

He looked a pretty sorry sight to be honest with you.

Used to bump in to the birch, muzzy and Lennon a fair bit in the pubs of Markfield.

I went to see Len Glover at his pub some years ago as a result of his connection with a former City goalkeeper (Shilton's cover in the late 1960's). Better than that, I stayed with the very hospitable parents of a City star from the 1980's who afforded me his room during my stay. The room and corridor were adorned with photographs and memorabilia! I daren't say who it is because he's still actively involved in football and might not know I had his bed for a few days!

I've always found footballers that I have met to be friendly although I tend to respect their space and not hassle them too much.

Over the years:

Guppy in a night club down the bottom of Churchgate, propping up the bar.
Muzzy shopping with his mum in Debenhams - nice chat.
Pontus Kamark at Stoughton Coop farm that was - had a nice chat with him and his kids who had come over to see him.
Matt Elliott - chat with him in mango whilst his other half like mine was spending.
Nugent in a lift at the highcross - he knew I was respecting his space and gave me a knowing wink and smile (I think that's what he did)
Steve Gerrard was disturbed eating his burger in his landrover at a service station near oxford and gave me his autograph.
Went with the team players including Grayson, Heskey, Lennon, Watts etc to give presents to children at the LRI Hospital - Still have the program with me in it and felt proud.

I also have been out with girls who have dated Dion Dublin and Gary McAllister - New thread idea

I used to work in the pub industry and served Paul Dickov and his family their dinner at the Copt Oak in Markfield. Seemed a really nice bloke and his kids had portable DVD players which they were watching. Nowadays that wouldn't even register but back in About 2002 i thought a portable DVD player was amazing!

Gary Lineker in Malmaison Birmingham. Just been promoted at work and had had a few drinks. It was the same week we came out of administration. Told him we all love him, he's a hero and shook his hand. I think he thought i was a complete tool!
