PES 16 is miles better than FIFA 16

Great write up Penguin

Had heard some good things about the full game post demo, but still enough people who had played both saying PES is better , I also like the fact you have came from FIFA as well, which is better than say my perspective which is pretty anti FIFA, and has been since about 2006 when the game IMO hit an all time low and PES was the king, basically i havent put that much time into a football for so many years, dabbled in FIFA and some versions of PES but all have felt broken, have pretty much said last gen was the worst for football games.

Pes 16 is one of the worst football game l've ever played. To even compare it to FIFA 16 let alone say its 'better' is a crime in itself. Its like saying Ronaldo is better than Messi. FIFA 16 is the truth.

PES is clunky as always. Players are playing in slow motion with a metal ball

Wow 2 people who haven't even played the game......

Someone always loses out

The only reason I will get FIFA 16 is for Pro Clubs, everything else will be PES

Good shout that really!

I may do that in next Gen, but FIFA 15 was terrible in all fairness.

got pro evo yesterday, havn't played fifa yet, but by god, what an awful game, this is my first year back to pro evo, because fifa is so so bad I thought i'd give it a go. and not impressed at all. The passing is terrible, slow and laboured, the movement is poor, there seems to be no real skill move, some dodgy thing pushing down the right stick, like what is that?

But the worst thing is the controls, why is square not tackle, instead x is pressure and then you have to double tap x to get them to tackle.and the square buttong does nothing.

The defending is laboured and slow and tackling is woeful.

I'm so annoyed, I thought i'd change it up this year and it's come back to bite me. There seems to be no good football game anymore. can't wait till nba 2k comes out

I never really understand the massive war between both games. I'm a fan of both and have bought both.

Gameplay wise I prefer PES. The OP hit the nail on the head when he said FIFA didn't feel satisfying. It's invariably the same old techniques to score time and time again (pace down the wing and pull it across goal or one two over the top with a pacey striker). That said I really enjoy the career mode (although it massive infuriates me with certain design decisions it has made, I hate playing the friendlies so whose idea was it add friendly tournaments?!?!) and the clubs has always been so much fun. However unless you're playing a mate it can be a massively frustrating experience.

PES's gameplay has improved massively over the last 6-7 years and starts to feel more like the natural game (peoples' view that it is clunky tends to come from the fact that there is more of a pause when players control the ball, which is better in my opinion and closer to the real game). Goals actually have to be thought out and you can score in a variety of ways.

It needs to have stronger game modes though, while I like MyClub, I think others are put off by the inability to buy their own players (I like playing a different team every game) and a fixed formation depending on your manager (a daft decision).

Overall I play FIFA if I'm in the mood for a laugh with some mates and PES if I'm taking things more seriously, neither are 'terrible' they're just two different ways of simulating football.

You know you can change the buttons right? They just have a default to be the classic PES controls.

Personally I prefer pressuring with holding one button and double tapping to tackle. Having to change button when switching from covering to an actual tackle seems unnecessary. Plus the other button calls a second defender to pressure the player instead of the one you currently control.

I don't really play football games, but when I do I prefer PES. FIFA is too repetitive and you find yourself scoring the same goals most of the time. I even beat my mates on it, even though I haven't owned a FIFA game since 2009.

All football games have been blown out the water by NBA 2K games. They are the best sports games to play and make football games barely seem worthwhile and certainly not worth the money.

Tam I will be honest I often fall into the trap of buying, and then just find niggly problems that only become apperent after 30/40 hours of play and never play again, so from about November I will maybe play 1 game ever couple of months as basically master league just doesn't pull you in like it use to

posted on 23/9/15

I used to love Masters League. It's why I used to play football games. I agree, it just doesn't have the same appeal now. Its ever since the got rid of the original line up. I miss Vorlander, Valery, Cellini, Espinas, Marinda and Castello.

What I've always like about PES is the slight unpredictability of the game. Things won't happen exactly the same every time, you might occasionally get a miscontrol or a wild shot or someone falling over, or a dodgy pass or the keeper fumbling it... that's real football and I think it is so much more fun for it.

The outcomes of passes and shots are also more about the players position at that time (his speed, where he's facing, who's near him).

When I've played FIFA it is just so clinical, you can always tell what is about to happen. That's not a lot of fun for me.

There's no doubt that FIFA is the more polished, accurate, well set up game. It's more complete. But for gameplay, for a fun game of football (particularly against freinds) that gets you off your seat and makes you feel truly involved, it's PES every time.

As others have said tho, there shouldn't be a war and each to their own, if you prefer FIFA then great. It's a very good thing to have two options, that appeal to different fans. Play whichever you like the most
