better choice than Jake White IMO, but like you id have loved either Wayne Smith or Dave Rennie, or both
Jones is it?
Welsh coach is it?
There's international for you, isn't it?
Seriously though, this is probably the best realistic appointment they could have made. White is a dinosaur and the rest probably said no, though only Cheika said it publicly.
How well he does could be down to how much freedom has been negotiated with the ReallyFU, and what he can persuade clubs to do. Whether he's better than Lancaster or not will be revealed in the fullness of time. If he persuades Borthwick to join him, he will be a better No. 2 than the millstone numptie, Farrell.
what he must, must, must do is get Ford and Henry Slade together at 10 and 12, and dump Owen Farrell and bring back Cipriani
Slade highlights the key problem that Jones will need to fix imo. Being able to "suggest" which position players are seen as by their clubs. We have JJ and Tuilagi vying for OC already, it isn't in Englands interest to see Slade play there week in week out. I think 10 or 12 is best for him, I would go with 12.
As for his coaching team, I don't really want to see Borthwick join him. Hated his captaincy.
Well Aristo, good luck with it i guess. Time will tell as they say. It's entirely possible that this move will have more of a negative impact on japan than a positive impact on England. I still think England will be competitive in the coming 6ns. Teams usually are when a new coach comes in.
I am unsure about this because a) I hate how he has tossed the Stormers to one side & b) He is a good coach but surely we could have got a REALLY good coach
I don't see how it will have a negative impact on Japan, he stepped down after the WC. Stormers, yes, but I don't particularly care^^

Goes back to a previous comment i made about him mate. I think he's a coach who is adept at taking a bad team and making them good. But im not convinced he's ability to take an elite team and make them great.
Also in terms of bargaining power in the RFU boardroom, meaning his ability to demand things he wants and get them, i feel is limited. He's not as big a marquee name as i would have expected England to got for. Therefore he might well get pressured and bullied by the suits. Where a Cheika or Henry et al would have told them where the nearest pier was so they could take a running jump.
All speculation of course. I mean none of us can really predict how it's gonna turn out. The only question right now is this. Do you England fans feel that Jones is markedly better than Lancaster? If yes, then that's all that matters.
I'm pretty certain he will do better than Lancaster but that isn't really saying much is it. I will judge how he has done after the AI.
AI Demus? Don't you mean 6N.
No I will give him more time than that before judging him as head coach.
Demus, you are a very generous man. Many will be looking for big progress from the off.
Patient and ambitious mate. I want us to become as good as anyone in the world, the target isn't winning the 2016 6N.
Pfffft
It's this the start of "we're going to win the 🏆".
Well yeah that's a given, we are England afterall
Oh dear, the four year build up to yet more failure and disappointment.
We, on the other hand, will approach the whole thing with the intention of going to have a party and come home mission accomplished.
Yep, despite everything, sometimes its good to be Scottish rugby fan.
Ah the serenity of knowing you will never win anything
Yeah, for us there is serenity in it. .
For you on the other hand, lies another long cycle of false hope, premature ejaculation even, culminating in the ultimate inevitability of bitter bitter disappointment.
Demus, I truly feel sorry for you.
We already won one mate^^
Can dine out on that til some other NH team manages it^^
Yeah I know, it's l like 1966 and the round ball isn't it.
Yeah well you lot still go on about Bannockburn over 700 years later. Your "anthem" does exactly that too.
. Is that your best shot?
Talking of anthems, I sang along with the La Marsaillese when the French round ball team played at Wembley the other night.
Je suis Paris.
Well I couldn't think of anything else you won mate
Je Suis Paris
Looks like the "Welsh" lock is on his way. Roll out the red carpet.
Actually, I reckon he's quite a good signing, nearly as good as the "Scottish" No. 8.
