If you tried to hug in MMA, you'd get thrown face first into the mat which is then followed up by a barrage of deadly punches.

I love all these new age ufc fans who can't respect the differences between mma and boxing.

They're different sports with different rules. Of course in an mma contest the boxer would lose but likewise a boxer would beat an mma fighter in a boxing ring. It's like a defender would be better than a strikers at defending, they're completely different but part of the same sport.

Also the numbers are not with ufc tiki, boxing still gets more ppv's and more money going into and being won by fighters in boxing.

Also with GG, Joshua and Wilder all growing into bigger stars it is far from dead, just wait till AJ vs Wilder the numbers will be huge.

ok i'll bite.
what do you mean transfer to mma?...
i dip into mma now and again, obviously go for the 'big ones'.. but as exciting as it can be, for me Boxing is still my fav combat sport.
Dana and ronda can say what they want about Boxing.
it has a glorious history, and a great sport.
I find the UFC lot a bit too over bearing, and trying to pick fights, which is an obvious attempt at pr stunting/exposure.
can't knock the hustle they have, but its borderline insane.
The Mayweather/Ronda thing is/was a joke.
they can barely escape the shadow of WWE!!
signed CM Punk, for what reason?

string I know a few boxers and mma/ufc fighters, what rousey proved was that a boxer wins 9/10 times

Boxing training is next level

They did a tournament a few years back where it was boxers v martial artists and even an average boxer was sparking out a seasoned 9 dan black belt (or whatever

put simply a boxer can hit and be hit from day 1. the whole martial arts and grappling doesnt teach you how to take punishment in the same way

Or they'd grind up and down against each other on the mat for 3mins.

Boxing is clearly not 'dead in the water'.

Ridiculous statement.

McGregor is a clown but he'd still mess up the heavy weight world champion based on last nights embarrassing so called fight.

The best MMA fights are those which dont go to the ground and both fighters trade on their feet.... Mmm..... Boxing??

Boxing will die a slow death until the day comes when the top fighters in their primes meet each other on a constant basis. There are some fantastic match-ups out there but either the fighters will get it on after they've peeked or it'll just never happen due to some BS red tape or network arguments.

UFC on the other hand, the fighters have to face each other. The ranked 1# fighter will have to fight the weight division number 2#, making for great exciting fights.

Boxing fans, name me two great fights you've had this year (I can't even think of one) and i'll name you 4 mma fights that were far more entertaining.

posted on 30/11/15

That's easy I can name quite a few.
Dave Ryan vs John Wayne Hibbert (we got that one twice too)
Anthony Crolla vs Darleys Perez (again, got that twice)
Jack vs Groves
Mayweather vs Pac (I know some didn't like it but thought it was great)
Fury/Klitschko, if you didn't get wrapped up in the atmosphere then you'll never enjoy the sport.
Kev Mitchell agains Lazerus (spelling)

Am pretty sure a load more people can add to that.

Degale/Dirrell
Cotto/Canelo (didn't watch this but a lot of people said it was close and a good bout)
Smith/Fielding (if your gonna call Rouseys 30 second bouts good then this has to be included)
Quigg/Martinez (bit biased on this one as I was there and am a big fan of Quiggs)

Don't really see this need to bash either sport as some people like one, some people like the other and some like both. (Am not an MMA fan tbh but was good to see Rousey brought down a peg or 2) think she'll come back stronger and not try and actually box next time.

^ agree about this other sport bashing. Each to their own.

I've got a real aversion to modern Formula 1 but don't bang on about it all the time.

Same with UFC/MMA. I don't care for it much, but I can see that there is a market for it.

Different tastes means there's a sport for all.

Enjoy your MMA & respect boxers / boxing fans.

I enjoy both boxing and UFC.

Beat boxing match of the year was Takashi Miura v Francisco Vargas the other week. Was a war, and some comeback from Vargas.

John Cena v Butterbean check it out on youtube.
