Really hard to call. No one really recovers when Connor connects properly a couple or so times but Aldo is a vicious guy. Will be a brilliant fight, can't wait.

Didn't know you are a MMA fan Guv. Had you down as a WWE/John Cena type.

Ah finally a McGregor v Aldo thread. This is a truly great match up and hopefully a great fight although seems that a lot of people in the UK aren't really following it sadly.

In short I suspect that Aldo will have too much here. No denying that McGregor is a very good fighter but this is a huge test for him, by far his biggest yet.

McGregor does seem to be getting a bit big for his boots calling himself the king of the ufc etc. He needs to beat Jose Aldo before he can even think of calling himself that and he hasn't beaten Aldo yet.

Yup the hype around McGregor at the moment is too much. He hasn't beaten a truly world class fighter like Aldo yet. Even the win over Mendes has question marks over it due to the amount of time Mendes had to prepare for that fight.

Agree that there are definitely parallels with the ridiculous hype that surrounded Rousey. I have a feeling that we might see the McGregor bubble get burst this weekend. On the other hand if Conor wins fair and square over Aldo then he deserves the praise but he hasn't done that yet.

Vik have you seen this article in the Daily Mail where Chad Mendes says that Aldo will tear up McGregor.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ufc/article-3355337/Chad-Mendes-backs-featherweight-champion-Jose-Aldo-tear-Conor-McGregor-UFC-title-fight-Las-Vegas.html

Considering he's fought both fighters I'd say his opinion carries a lot of weight.

Such a pity Saul Rogers is out of TUF final, Rogers v Lobov would have been epic.

As it is, I expect Hall to win by submission in Rd1.

Aldo will kick the living sheeite out of McGregor's thighs for 25 minutes and win by UD.

Mendes would have comfortably beaten McGregor with a proper training camp.

Thoughts on Weidman vs. Rockhold? Also very unpredictable.

The way I see the panning out is, Conor doing his usual pressing game i.e measuring up with his right to land the his (sledge hammer of a) left cross. The problem with this is, he'll constantly have to stand in the pocket - as he tends too often to reach too far to land his power shot of a left. McGregor prefers his opponent to circle him to his right - leaving his own inside right leg vulnerable to Aldo's horrible kicks. If Conor fights his usual fight, unless he catches Aldo with his left or a lucky heel kick, then he'll lose this war somewhat easily.

Unfortunately for Conor he doesn't have a back-up plan, where as Aldo can box, kick - like an effin mule and is a Jiu Jitsu black belt.

What Conor does have in his favour is, reach and a good tank. If he stands off Aldo (who does gas in the championship rounds) inviting him on, then Aldo is easy pickings for the counter, which Chad and Edger exposed. McGregor need to be very clever and pick his shots, use his side and front kicks and wait until the later rounds and turn up the heat.

Prediction, Aldo win by TKO in the late 3rd.

What I want to see is, a McGregor win, as he'll bring more excitement to the division in one year than Aldo has in ten.

Come on Conor!!!!

Conor 2nd Round KO/TKO
Weidman 3rd Round KO/TKO

I think this is the most excited I have ever been for a sporting event, except when Celtic played Porto in the Uefa Cup final.

Frankie Edgar put Mendes to sleep in round 1

Only just watched the fight

Expected Mendes to win a comfortable UD thanks to his wrestling.

Edgar v Aldo and Mendes v McGregor next please.
