That whole opening at Jabbas palace is done so well. My favourite bit has to be Luke force choking the Gammorean guards.

When he did that, oh man! So badass.
How come Jedi mind trick didn’t work on Jabba?

Ohhh… interesting. I mean that whole beginning scene is very cool. As a kid it was quite scary, and I think the chuckle at the Rancor master was more me trying to calm myself. Cos I wasn’t expecting Jabba to be like this.
Was very scared for Solo. So when Luke turns up I was just so happy. And well I was too young to appreciate Slave Leia. Or is that Firespray Leia?
I felt she was in great danger too, didn’t have a clue how’d they get out of it.
But, you felt something seeing all 3 of them back together again.

It only works on the weak minded.

Yes, of course. Obi-Wan said so.
I didn’t do my usual Xmas Star Wars movie watch.
Maybe I need to revisit the 6(SIX) saga films again.

That’s why he blasts Bib Fortuna for letting in Luke.
I think for the longest time i thought Jabba had powers too. But he was just straight up Gangsta.

Watch the clone wars tv show first and then go from episode 3 to 6.

Jabba and the other hutts have always had an iron grip over the criminal underworld. They may not be physically formidable but they are slick and shrewd businessmen.

Jeez, Book of Boba getting a right bashing on the net.
Well these YouTube folk. I didn’t hate the last Ep, even though it may of looked like I did.
But some of these takes are a bit over the top.
Think the main issue as Guv noted, people having a hard time with this interpretation of the character…

Then it doesn’t help with those Vespas, which I get the Power Rangers ref now. I think what bothered me most was the symmetry of their arrival at the Mayors.
Too clean.
But things like that don’t help, and the hate for this show seems to be building.

I'm kinda shocked by the bad reception, I'm enjoying the show. The world building and getting deeper into the lore with things like the wookie and the rancoor, mixed with the nostalgia of going to Tosche Station and seeings Lukes old mates is a lot of fun to me.

I think the flashbacks are superbly done all in all.

The present day stuff is where it gets a bit iffy, I understand question marks over this Boba, but tbh he never did anything in the originals. This characterisation does seem to fit with a simple man trying to make his way in the universe, although I have a feeling he's trying to do things differently with this second chance and as such he's holding back more than he normally would too.

Plus I trust Filoni and Favreau

I think half the problem is people created their own image of what Boba Fett was, a cool, cold bounty hunter.
All this diplomacy doesn't fit.

But, also, the story is quite boring. In many ways it has started at the wrong point. The most interesting parts are him getting out of the sarlacc, his time with the sandpeople and killing Bib. Don't really like the use of flashbacks, could have just made an episode or two from then and built up to this current point.

They may come back, but the use of the Hutts and Chris Santan was a bit nothing and disappointing.

Can't really judge until we see the end game, but it has just been a bit of a nostalgia trip rather than an interesting new story imo.

Yeah that's gotta be a lot of the problem.

I guess by doing it as flashbacks they're trying to draw parallels and show things that happened to Boba that will be actively playing into his thinking in his current day actions. Like if he's gone through all this with the Raiders and he's dreaming about it every night, that's gonna stay with him in the decisions he makes day to day.

I thought episode two was really good, last episode was so so (the scooters for that gang seemed a bit jarringly out of place and not much happened). I'm happy for a bit of a nostalgia trip though.

Maybe it's cos I didn't see star wars till mid 90s and as a kid I barely noticed Boba and was all about Luke and the Jedi that my expectations are different

Agree with a lot of what both of you lot are saying.
I did think have they chosen the right narrative structure here.
It is convenient that his flashbacks are in chronological order, but they are telling a compelling story there.
I wonder what Fav and Filoni are making of this?

My main issues with the show:

-The show is lacking a clear direction and it feels like we are going around in circles.
-Pacing is too slow
-Boba is acting weird. He was more ruthless in Mando and he doesn't seem very smart either, despite having been shown as a shrewd and clever Bounty Hunter.
-There are no stakes. I don't ever feel that Boba is danger.
-Not enough travel to other planets or locations on Tattoine.
-Action scenes and visuals aren't on the level of Mando
-The show is missing a main threat.
-The trailers made it seem as though Boba would be a formidable crime lord but so far, he's barely done anything.

I liked Boba growing up but I didn't need or want to see his backstory. I was content to view him as this mysterious bounty hunter with a cool looking ship. Maybe that explains why the show hasn't gripped me yet.

My biggest positive about the show is the feel of it. It feels like Star Wars and I appreciate that and the additional information the sprinkle in, which only expands the lore.

I'd like to see action scenes with Boba too. He should be using the jetpack, the flamethrower, the quick draw pistol, the rocket launcher etc.

I liked how in Mando, we spent most of the show with him having his helmet on. I know it's part of his mandalorian code but I do feel like Boba spends too much time with his helmet off.

But on that point. Yes, it is slow. But western style can be, but as you say, things should’ve been established sooner. But The show acknowledges that he’s yet to impress himself. People are talking. Some taking liberties. Boba acknowledges this himself.
So why are they playing it this way?

He defo won’t end up being the Crimelord.

In terms of episode rating:

Episode 1= 7/10
Episode 2= 7.5/10
Episode 3= 6/10

I'll certainly watch the remaining episodes but how this season ends will dictate whether or not I come back for season 2.

If this season was 15 episodes, the pacing wouldn't be an issue but we only have 4 episodes left and they cannot just string me along so I find the answers in season 2, because they aren't delivering in season 1.

Yeah, I do think they have made Boba a bit too meh. He didn't get where he did by being soft and naive but now he seems like he is new to the whole game.

Boba’s a clone isn’t he. He’s not true Mandalorian?
Or is he?

Exactly. This is a guy who has been the most feared Bounty Hunter for years and he was raised by an arguably greater Bounty Hunter. He's rubbed shoulders with the Hutts, other Bounty Hunters, smugglers and even Darth Vader. I can accept him not being able to be proficient in combat anymore, due to his injuries but his experience and knowledge should have shone through by now.

Yes he's a clone but Jango was a Mandalorian so Boba would be one but I don't think he views himself as one.

Speaking of clones, it would be great to hear what Boba thinks about the clones and the fact that the empirr replaced them.
