How long are we doing a spoiler embargo for?

Spoilers begin on Monday?

I don't expect much Vader, maybe a couple of flashbacks and a confrontation but otherwise I think the shadow of Vader can be menacing enough without having to see him too often.

The extended clip of Obi-Wan talking to Owen seemed promising though. McGregor really finding the voice of Guiness too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I cannot wait for the interactions between Owen and Obi Wan. The clip alone conveys so much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Lars is sitting there, eating his breakfast. Well that’s what it always looked like to me. And the subtle change in mannerisms when he hears Kenobi’s name.
It tells you, there’s a history, that went bad along the way.
It seems from the trailer there’s obvious tension, but why? Lars and Beru still took care of Luke and hid him well. What wrecked Kenobi’s relationship with them?

Hopefully we about to find out.

My theory:

Obi Wan dropped Luke off at the end of episode 3 and told Lars that he was Anakins kid. As far as how much he divulged about the jedi/sith, I don't know, but I'm sure he told them of Anakins turn to the darkside and the importance of keeping Luke safe. The tension between Kenobi and Owen probably comes from Obi wan asking yhem to look after Luke until he's old enough to be trained by Kenobi. Owen probably feels like he is being used and becomes protective of Luke. This would fuel the tension, as Owen doesn't want Luke to end up like his dad , despite Obi Wans insistence about him being trained. I also suspect the Lars cannot have children of their own, so Luke is like a son to them. Almost like the Uncle Ben/Aunt May situation.

Yeah makes sense. They would have no doubt loved Luke and probably thought Kenobi was just raising him to be a soldier in an incredibly dangerous war, which is pretty much true. Add in that he failed so miserably with Anakin and they have every right to think they know what's best for Luke better than he does.

Bare in mind, this is Tattooine , an outer rim planet where the news of the empire and clone wars probably doesn't interest the general population. Jedi aren't revered or respected here, so Obi Wans reputation or stock mean nothing to the Lars. Not to mention the jedi are being hunted and killed and Palpatine has already constructed a narrative where the Jedi betrayed the republic and were the true villains.

Based on the trailer, we can safely assume that Obi Wan has either cut himself off from the force or is using it sparingly. He will almost certainly be communicating with Yoda and possibly Qui Gonn too , which I am looking forward to seeing.

With Obi Wan not using the force, it gives the inquisitors a chance to be competitive in combat and it adds a level of difficulty to Obi Wans survival and attempts at staying hidden.

Couldn’t have kids. Wow. Yeah, that’s a strong emotional tie in.

Yep yep. Makes sense. So, at some point Obi-Wan reconnects to the force as we see him in a new hope, he’s already a force user.
I wonder When did that happen?

That dont make sense

R2D2 sort out Obi Kenobi too show him the message from Princess Layer.

Was pure luck that Luke ended up acquiring R2 at the market.

I have little excitement for this show, not because of what it actually explores but more due to Disney's lack of consistency.

The show looks to be exploring the rebels vs Empire conflict from a ground level, which could be fascinating and entertaining but will Disney be able to go deep and dark enough?

Time will tell but let's see how Obi Wan does.

As of now, Disney are 1-1 when it comes to live action shows. Mando has been a hit for me, Boba has been a fail.
