Solo - A Star Wars Story Trailer is dropping this Monday.
Not during the Superbowl... but might see an image or two...

I'm bemused at the decision to release the trailer on Monday. They have left it far too late in my opinion and now there is huge pressure on this trailer. The reaction to TLJ was divisive and Disney risk infuriating the fan base further.

Why have they left it too late exactly? TLJ only hit theatres 6 weeks ago, they have to allow some time to breathe between the two.

And i don’t care what the trailer is like tbh, for a good editor it’s not hard to make a good trailer even if the film is utter trash. Seen some amazing trailers for some woeful films, and seen some good films have shocking trailers.

They’re really not that important to me tbh.

i don't think it's too late. if they blitz it. 2+ months is more than enough time. also, look at the hysteria. whether its a good thing or not, and i'm sure this wasn't planned, but Solo is on everyones lips.
people are already aware... you still have the NBA All-Star weekend to come.. i'm sure Solo Trailer will be tagged to Black Panther.
so from that aspect i think its ok, but as said, a trailer is a trailer...
guarantee now, it will again be divisive... people will argue. and its only a trailer.
fingers crossed its a good one.
Whats the Chances Han and Lando met at Canto Bight?!?!?

The first John wick had its trailer drop about 2 weeks before the film came out, yet was a huge box office and critical success.

Sometimes waiting till later and condensing the hype can be hugely beneficial. If you start too soon people can be over the film by the time it comes out.

Let’s put it this way, do you think of the movie released tomorrow and it didn’t have a single trailer out it would suffer financially? I don’t.

If anything i think it would make people more interested to go see it

Ultimately, marketing or no marketing, this movie's success or failure will be dictated by what sort of a film they deliver. I personally hope it turns out better than most expect but this is treacherous territory for Disney. They have already split the fan base with TLJ and an underwhelming showing with Solo could turn the fans off completely.

And yet they had put out a film in Rogue one that many fans considered to be the best Star Wars film, I’m not one of them, but many did. TFA had a strong fan response too.

Fans have short memories imo, i think Han Solo will be fine and the fan base will be back on side. I’m not particularly excited for a solo movie personally but imo Disney haven’t put out a bad Star Wars film yet so I’ll go see it with an open mind.

Like i said they had two very good showings with their films with the fans, both were in the 80s and 90s for audience scores. They’ve had one which was divisive.

A strong Solo film and its 3 out 4 good ones for most fans, that’s a very good return. For me it would be 4 out of 4 though, i loved TLJ.

I didn’t say they were very good, i said they had very good showings. The vast majority of fans and critics enjoyed them, that’s what i mean.

I liked the force awakens, enjoyed rogue one and TLJ has been my favourite so far.

There's a scene that looks like a bounty hunter is on top of a moving train like vehicle - very reminiscent of Shadows of the Empire.

Just kinda looks like your run of the mill holywood chase story. Introduce various characters with some set pieces, come together as a team, lay out the plan, char scenes, good guys win against the odds.

Han Trailer looks decent, like most of the other Star Wars films recently (including Rogue One) they hide the story as much as possible. Looks very good!
