Genuine question, will anyone watch this show back? I'm sure some people enjoyed it, so I have no qualms with wanting to rewatch it but personally, I'll probably only ever watch the Vader vs Obi Wan fight from episode 6 again. Not the original either, I'll watch the edited version with battle of the heroes soundtrack mixed in.

Exactly this

Vader fight, minus the stupid rocks, and the dialogue is the best Starwars we have had in a while, but even that pales Vs the Rogue one and Luke corridor scenes that are some of the best SW sheet ever

I did say, after Clone Wars I was gonna rewatch Rebels.
That was great.
Ah man, the way I played it, watching the end of Clone Wars season 7, and then the start of Kenobi. Man that was great. The feels.
Then the chase happened… then the rest of it.
Ep 3, picked things up, until we picked away at it.

The theory that Vader was disappointed with an out of touch Kenobi seems to be correct. And maybe him just standing there watching him through the fire was deliberate. Decided to give him a second chance… which makes no sense, cos then the next Ep he’s very angry Kenobi got away…..

Ah man this show. Yeh, Rebels will put the smile back on my face.

I can get through Ep 1. Last part of Ep 3.
Vaders entrance in Ep 5. Ep 6 I can watch..

Man that’s no way to watch a show. So unfortunately no, I can’t rewatch it.

Another nitpick, but I swear Vader punches Obi-Wan in the face?!! Someone check the fight again. I’m sure that happens.

He does. It was very reminiscent of when Maul hits QGJ before killing him - you know, in the days when a saber to the stomach killed you.

I’ve already watch episode 6 again but I won’t watch it all again but I rarely rewatch series, really rarely.

Personally I have the Vader v OB1 fight on par with R1 and the Luke scene. The Luke scene was perfectly built up but the actual lightsaber action felt a bit slow and laboured to me. Still loved it obviously because of the build up and the reveal.

Mauls move was clever, cos it stunned Qui Gon, set him up for the kill shot. The Vader punch, looked odd, as I would never have him down as doing that, but it’s fine.
This is still half Anakin right. Anything for the win.

You know, people talking about who came off worst in the show. Whose legacy is hurt by this show. Doesn’t get much worse than The iconic LightSaber.
So now what.. cos that’s another hole unnecessarily created. And cos they’ve gone backwards in time, anything is on the table.

Are we gonna see shows now, that have the Saber not kill anyone. One of the most lethal weapons ever created on film.
Only a chosen few could have the ability the wield such a majestic weapon. The fear of being struck by a Saber.
It should send chills everytime you see that thing light up.
And now, what is it?

A novelty lamp?

It is irritating. The SW fan base just about accepted Maul surviving and it’s as if the writers have gone - well, precedent set - everyone now survives a gut shot from a saber. Somehow.

I like Kenobi far more than many on here it seems, and I’m prepared to forgive many of the continuity issues it presents. However the lightsaber not killing you thing - I’m not on board. At all.

A novelty lamp.
Ah, man if you don’t laugh you’ll cry.

Ok, this might have been said already.
In A New Hope, Obi-Wan says to Luke, ‘Obi-Wan, now that’s a name I heard in a long time. I haven’t gone by Obi-Wan ohhh Since you were born…’

Is this just another nitpick?

The Maul return certainly requires a suspension of belief but I think people rarely criticise it because of how iconic the character is and how successful his comeback was. As far as favourite characters in SW go, I don't think you'll find many top 10 lists that don't feature Maul.

Just occurred to me; Anakin as a good guy - beheaded Dooku. Anakin as the baddest fecker in the galaxy - gave someone a stern warning and a gut shot which apparently everyone now lives through.

Is light side the new dark side?!

posted on 26/6/22

Anakin beheading Dooku isn't the turning point. He was always skirting the line between light and dark and it just took the right circumstances. Let's not forget, he slaughtered a village of tuskens in Attack of the clones.

posted on 26/6/22

As much as Palpatine was to blame for Anakins turn, the clone wars does a good job showing how the Jedi also let him down. This idea of attachment was flawed and the jedi were too dogmatic to realise this. If Qui Gon took Anakin and trained him alone, he wouldn't have turned to the darkside.

posted on 26/6/22

Yeh, the Jedi were just as at fault for the collapse of the Order. Got complacent. Too rigid in their ways.
But I don’t know if I’m totally sold on the idea that Qui Gon would have turned him.
Sheev was always monitoring him from afar.
I think Anakins destiny was always to go to the darkside.

posted on 26/6/22

But how would Palpatine have got to him? Qui Gon and Anakin would have left the order and he wouldn't have had the relationship with Padme.

Considering episodes 4-6 were made first, I agree with you 😂😂

posted on 26/6/22

Anakin was certainly the chosen one, so maybe he would have turned to the darkside via another route. I could see Palpatine sending someone to kill Qui Gon.

However, if the jedi allowed qui gon to train him, it would have given Palpatine access to Anakin.

posted on 26/6/22

The prophecy the jedi all referred to was misconstrued. Anakin was the chosen one and he was going to bring balance to the force but he was also going to plunge it into darkness first.

posted on 26/6/22

If the jedi allowed attachment, would Anakin have turned? A lot of his fear was due to his concerns about Padme. If it was public knowledge that they were married, would he still have gone to palpatine and asked him if it was "possible to learn this power"

posted on 26/6/22

You make some good points Guv. I forget he was told he’d had to leave by the Council in order to take him under his wing, cos they said he already had Obi-Wan.

But cos Sheev already knew of Anakin as his ‘Son’ as it were, right, or did he not?
Nothing would’ve stopped his rise to power still, and yeh, I think he would’ve hunted down Qui-Gon.
Maybe sending Dooku after him.

Hmmm… Star Wars, The Alternate Reality.
Coming soon.

Or did Qui Gon renounce himself from the Jedi Order, cos he believed in Anakin?
He did didn’t he…?

I mean, it’s obvious to see from this, how stupid it was to intercut with a pointless sequence with Reva.
Should’ve just left it as one whole scene.
But then in saying that, the use of shaky cam, which may have been sone in post production is awful.

It didn’t add to the tension. It’s a cheap trick.
If you watch say, The Rock. Michael Bay overdoses on it, in the car chases, especially with close ups of actors driving the cars.
But it’s done well, and edited well in the scene.
The car is most probably not moving, and that gives Bay more control to force create the mayhem.

In Kenobi, I’m thinking these shots were filmed in a static manner. And they have forced the shake in Post.

Qui gon said to the council that he would train Anakin with or without their approval.

posted on 27/6/22

The question is, would Obi Wan have gone with Qui Gon or would he stay with the jedi. I personally think he would have stayed because by this point, he'd already decided not to pursue his love interest Satine because of his devotion to the Jedi.

posted on 27/6/22

It should also be mentioned that Qui gon isn't as infallible as most think. Let's not forget that Dooku was his padawan and he then later became a sith lord.
