Going by the image showed on that page, it looks to be leaning towards the latter.

I prefer the rebels type of 3d cgi show but animation can be used to terrific effect. A perfect example would be the original animated clone wars series which to this day stands above anything else in the tv Star wars universe. A must watch if you haven't yet seen it.

Another component that somewhat tempers my interest is the time period. Unless you are focusing on Luke or the main heroes, the intrigue factor drops significantly for me.

Not "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" that was 3d, but the earlier series "Star Wars: Clone Wars" which was 2D.

FWIW though, I'm happy to rwad that most of the team associated with this are the same folks that done Rebels and CW. they haven't really put a foot wrong so far, so I look forward to this. Maybe a bit more Snoke.

Going to be very interesting

Did anyone else see Alden Ehrenreich has said he’s signed up for 3 movies to play Han.

Will he get two more solo spin offs or appear in other spin offs?

I suppose my only gripe (there always has to be a gripe) is that I preferred the more adult feel and themes of CW over the more family friendly Rebels. Of course with this all being a Disney production we should expect a more cartoonish cartoon. But as long as the story lines are solid I should be good.

Will be interesting to see if Phasma has any value or is actually useful in any capacity.

It's a standard contractual approach so that they can maximise their return of Solo turns out to be a hit. Felicty Jones also signed a 3 film contract but we know how that ends.

Yeah, it's not necessarily a 3 Han Solo movie deal. If Solo bombs he'll just end up making a couple of other movies for Lucasfilm. if Solo takes the world buy storm, or he emerges as the next big thing in acting, then Lucasfilm have the rights to him.

They ruined Phasma in the movies. I expected her to have the Bobba Fett aura but instead she was under utilised and uses as a prop.

Time will tell. The trailers have gone some way to mollify my initial concerns but my expectations aren't high. I just want a fun star wars movie.

the one thing I have taken from the trailers is that there seems to be an origin story for everything han in this movie.

Origin of why he became a smuggler.
Origin of his friendship with lando
Origin of the Falcon
Origin of him meeting and saving Chewie
Origin of his blaster

I understand its an origin movie, but not everythign has to be squeezed into one movie.

I now expect to see him p!ss off jabba, do the kessel run in record time/distance/space and find himself in spaceprimark buying a nice pair of trousers with a cool stripe down the side. Buy one get one free, so he can get a blue/red combo and a nice brown/yellow too.
