I hear you Superb. But Luke surely displayed a lot for not much training... i mean, how long was he in Degobah?
But at least we saw him being put through the mill.
And yes, got his ass kicked by Vader, But for me, Rey hasn’t really done anything..
She fought a weakened Kylo. Thats it.
After the training she did have, all she did was kick rocks... lift up rocks.
She doesn't come across to me as all powerful, Daisy certainly doesn't play it that way... well, until she flipped over a Tie-Fighter that is.
But since TFA, ive said, it would be lazy writing for her to be a Skywalker.
Grand-daughter to Kenobi makes more sense to me.
I would be disappointed if she is Lukes or Leia, that narrative hasn't been set up well.
I don't mind that shes a nobody.

And what does ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ mean?
The cynic in me cant help but think that, that this is a ploy to appease fans after TLJ.
To see his name in the title, and see it say Rise.?!
Questions questions.. is it a cheap ploy playing on fans love of Luke?
And also, after killing Han Solo..(sorry spoilers), but for me Kylo cant be redeemed. He has to die.
Badly.

In TLJ Rey took out Snoke's entire Royal Guard after only a minimal amount of training from Luke. In fact far less training than Luke received from Yoda on Degobah.

Ok she had help from Kylo of course but still why at that stage should she have been any match for Snoke's elite Royal Guard? Supposedly his very best warriors in weapons combat. She's just a scavenger girl from Jaku with next to zero fighting experience. It's nonsense.

That's what it feels like to me, a cheap marketing ploy to try and get fans back onside after they messed up Luke's character and killed him off.

Also feels like a huge spolier to me, that Rey is a Skywalker. They desperately want fans to love the new characters, especially Rey, because it's clear that audiences haven't connected with these new characters and why would they? They have almost zero story arc or character development.

And yes it would be very lazy writing if Rey is a Skywalker but all we've had so far from this trilogy is lazy writing and treating the audience like idiots so why expect them to change now ?

There was a theory doing the rounds after TFA that Rey was actually a descendent of Palpatine and she would fight her lineage evil as a mirror to Kylo fighting his parental good.

Reys already heard voices in TFA, I think there’s a chance she’s a descendant of Palpatine hidden on Jakku (symmetry to Luke) and the laugh is in her head rather than Palp actually surviving.

As for rise of the skywalker - Rey’s inevitable siding with the skywalker good rather than her bloodline.

Nah. I like what you've written but the difference is that you've written something interesting with imagination and Disney have already proved they're not doing that with this new trilogy.

And I don't want to entirely hate on Disney because I really enjoyed both Rogue One and Solo. And I think that the Mandalorian is going to be very good as well.

Disney should have left the original six movies well alone though and not tried to continue the Skywalker saga. Not even having a plan for this trilogy when they made TFA is unforgivable and this mess is the result.

Maybe but JJ is a man with an imagination far beyond the likes of me and it's entirely possible that Disney have been so stung by the criticisms of TLJ that they're prepared to be a bit more creative.

I certainly think it's possible. I just don't see how Palp fits in otherwise - it's supposed to be 30 years after his death and the fall of the empire. Surely they can't have him alive still?! That would be ludicrous.

So no one is excited for Jedi fallen order?

oh god yeah. Single player. A story. that part sounds great..
but need to see more about the game. where the story goes. I remembered friends going crazy for the twist where you became a sith. I didn't play it, but it sounded great.

posted on 16/4/19

Knights of the old republic? Yeah turned out you were a Sith who had been reprogrammed as a Jedi, when you find out you’re actually a Sith it was a pretty big twist

Just been flicking through the channels and caught a bit of The Last Jedi.

It was the part were Luke tells Rey that the legacy of the Jedi is failure and that a Jedi was responsible for the creation of Darth Vader.

What a load of nonsense. The Jedi maintained peace and justice for over a 1000 generations. Palpatine was a 30 year blip. The Jedi didn’t sense him yes but he was one of the most powerful force users ever.

As for A Jedi being responsible for Vader. Did Rian Johnson not bother watching the prequels? Yes, the 3 arc story of how a powerful young boy is slowly seduced by the dark side and promised powers to bring his loved ones back from the dead.

Disgraceful Rian.

You mean the 5 minute switch? Sorry but those prequels were horrendous and the worst part was the lack of any actual tempting by the emperor bar 5 minutes.

Then there was the whole thing of leia remembering her Mum in return of the Jedi yet she died during childbirth, because she was really really sad. Yikes.

Now, Not to be morbid, or trying to be funny about this... but how would you say Carrie Fishers mother Debbie Reynolds die?
You could say she too, died of a broken heart.
How about those couples that die minutes or hours apart from one another?
I’m thinking theres something that supports that theory.

Ok, its been a while since i’ve seen RotJ, but didn’t Leia say that line before she found out she was Lukes Sister.
She had to be talking about Jimmy Smitts wife that raised her as a Princess, right?

The switch may have been short but from episode 2 onwards, you could see the conflict and the anguish Anakin was feeling. You should also watch the clone wars tv show because they flesh a lot of things out.

Despite having their shortcomings, the prequels are superior to the new movies and over time they have aged well.

Seen the clone wars, like the clone wars, doesn’t detract from the fact that the prequels are rubbish. There’s very little of anakin turning and they were poorly executed.

Can’t agree with you on them being better than the new ones, but then again i really hate the prequels. Absolute garbage imo.

Clone wars and rebels was good though

Overall the prequels were way better than this new trilogy. Even if Episode 9 smashes it out of the park (highly unlikely) I'll still favour the prequels as Last Jedi absolutely derailed this trilogy.

Phantom Menace isn't good at all but at least it had some good characters and a brilliant baddie in Darth Maul. Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith especially are better Star Wars movies than Force Awakens, which to me is just a poor man's New Hope.

And that Force Awakens looks like Shakespeare next to Last Jedi tells you everything you need to know.
