And to be fair to kylo, his character is supposed to be a petulant Vader wannabe. Snoke even tainted him about being a child playing pretend.

But he was the emperor of this series. He spent the same amount of time as the emperor in these films and played the same role. That’s not even up for debate.

Emperor: introduced in episode 5 as a hologram, giving orders to Vader. Appears in episode 6 in throne room with his apprentice and the adversary, apprentice kills emperor.

Snoke: introduces in episode 7 as a hologram giving orders to kylo. Appears in episode 8 in throne room with his apprentice and adversary, apprentice kills snoke.

Same damn storyline.

ok i'll play devils advocate Guv..
Isn't it possible, that in TFA, Kylo was severely weakened by being shot in the gut, and maybe a tad emotional after killing his dad? (soz spoilers)
and a bit tired fighting Fin, an even then he still gave a good account of himself, for a force sensitive brat.

but it is all possible that it's bad writing, if its never explained, cos even though i don't want her to be Luke or Leia's kid, some explanation is required about Rey.

Fair enough Guv, its a fair conclusion to come to.
and the thing is, as you've said, because of the story of TLJ, it kinda hurts TFA.
but guess it all rests on Ep 9.
and as Marvel have shown in their films, there's nothing wrong with a bout of Fan Service.
Why they decided to go against the grain, is anyone's guess.

We see han blast storm troopers with chewies bow and 3 stormtroopers go flying, literally flying.

Kylo took one of those to the gut and was still able to continue fighting, it’s ridiculous to assume he wasn’t affected by that in his fight with Rey in any way.

And idk what you were watching Guv but he ruined Finn.

I'm sure kids loved it but as a star wars fan, I did not.

So you’re insinuating that only kids would enjoy that and a true Star Wars fan wouldn’t? That’s arrogant

Yeah but i just don’t know why people get so mad about snoke when he was the emperor character of this trilogy and they used him in pretty much the same way as the emperor.

I thought kylo killing him was cool anyway, further solidified his descent into the dark side for me. The one thing that i won’t be able to take is if they do try to redeem Kylo, at every juncture he has chosen the dark side. There is no light left in him, have him be bad this whole time please.

Probably because we didn't see him at all in The Force Awakens and he was killed in the second film of a trilogy.

He appeared to be the most powerful Dark side uder we'd ever seen and convinced Ben Solo to join the First Order.

Who is he?
Where does he come from?
Where was he during the Empires reign?

We need a prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy.

This trilogy is doomed even if Episode 9 proves to be a great Star Wars film.

The Force Awakens is too much of a mystery box. The Force Vision, Snoke, Knights of Ren, Starkiller Base, Luke Skywalker etc etc.

Yes, all very intriguing but unless there's rationale and substance to them, then they lose all meaning and purpose.

Take Starkiller Base for example. This is the greatest weapon the Galaxy has ever seen and we're just expected to believe The First Order had it ready and primed with no backstory as to it's creation.

It's not the same as the Deathstar because we had no prior knowledge to A New Hope.

The Force Awakens doesn't have that luxury because we all know the events of the previous 60-70 years.

How long after the fall of the Empire for example did the FO form? Was it immediate?

The Last Jedi should've given us some kind of rationale for it's existence.

For example, a high ranking member for the Resistance saying something along the lines of "Starkiller Base was always the end goal for The Emperor. It was being constructed long before the first Deathstar.

The Last Jedi needed to flesh out The Force Awakens. Give it substance and purpose.

But Rian Johnson had other ideas. It shuts the door on many of The Force Awakens questions rendering both films almost worthless.

Please no, it would be just as bad and would only further crap over the Skywalker saga.
