Someone answer my question. What excuse is there for the players to not play well for the thousands of fans who cheer them on every week?

The player clearly weren't trying and got him sacked. If Mourinho was in charge we would have lost today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why wouldn't the players try?
Why would they want to get Mourinho sacked?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Idk, but there's no excuse to not try.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could it be because of Mourinho's behaviour towards them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who cares? Do your job and play football. You're doing it for the fans who pay money and cheer your name week in week out. That's your priority. Not some silly fight with the manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You know it's not that simple. I don't think the players downed tools, As has been suggested. I think it has a lot to do with morale. If your manager acts the way Mourinho has would you perform at your best?
Would you perform if your manager called you out on national telly, or said the previous success of the team was down to him?
Did Mourinho act the way he did with the fans, who pay their money, in mind?
We need more of the same and even better. We know what they are capable of. It looked like the shackles were off. Morale way up and team spirit back. If that means no Jose so be it. We support Chelsea not Jose Mourinho.
Please stop slagging players off until we know more of the story, right now the media is directing the shoot.

If it's morale, you wouldn't see such an instant improvement. These players weren't trying their hardest. Mourinho fell out with his players at Madrid, but they kept winning games. Why couldn't ours do that?

You tell me? At the end of the day you lot were in a position to go into this season on a high. You'd just won the league and LC.
Why would the players, after last season, all of a sudden decide they can't be ar5ed? Is it because of the atmosphere created by the man leading from the front, the person in charge of implementing tactics, playing style, picking the team, training and setting the tone went of one one?

Thibaut . Let me try to explain . Its a team game, if something happens, Ive no idea what but that event or events has had an effect on the players, affecting Morale , they feel down , depressed even. Its the managers main role to keep morale high and team spirit which results in enjoyment of your sport and show inspiration. As I say Its the Gaffer's main duty to keep his players feeling confident. A string of poor results leading to recriminations (I'm guessing here) leads to misery and miserable performances no matter how hard you try.
Todays game may be a one off but It showed the owner and the pundits that Chelsea "had the shackles off" some jinx was removed. Hope it continues and it will prove the board made thee right decision , maybe showing too much patience.
The accusation that certain players deliberately played badly to get Jose sacked is very likely utter tosh. Its downright lie. But we will have to wait and see...
Tway, but my issue is if the team's morale was down, how does this improvement happen so suddenly? It should take time to reach back the levels the players are capable of, but this is our first game since sacking Mourinho.

If Chelsea can agree an out of court deal with Eva & bring back Eva it could put Chelsea in a better spotlight.

Answer me this. If the players are meant to turn up week in week out and perform for the fans, because they get paid thousands a week.
Why isn't Mourinho meant to come in week in week out and perform for the fans. Instead of blaming everyone but himself for poor performances? He gets paid thousands a week too.
Had Mourinho let the fans down?
The Eva incident is key IMO. This was the first week of the season. Morale should've been high. Who tries to deflect from the result by blaming the cob doctor, Mourinho or the players?

Maybe Hazard deliberately walked off vs Leicester so he feared the doctor wouldnt face the Mourinho backlash like Eva did.

"if the team's morale was down, how does this improvement happen so suddenly?"
the cause of the bad morale was removed.
It's pretty simple. And plenty of clubs get a bounce when a new manager comes in.

Mourinho's job is simply to pick the team and tactics every week and he's done that. It's the players who haven't implemented them that are mostly to blame for our poor form. They've shown this week that they could have played much better than they've shown this season.
