Christmas is the day we celebrate Santa not Jesus

How many people will actually be at church tonight?

Xmas has become a commercial holiday. Not too much religious about it

Seeing as there is little evidence that Jesus of Nazareth was born in Bethlehem or on 25th December and that the celebration of his birth was moved by the Romans to harmonize with Pagan festivals I see no problem celebrating gift giving and goodwill to mankind irrespective of whatever hocus pocus some people chose to believe in

I love Christmas. Nothing to do with religion, just a time of year to catch up with family and seeing my kids faces when they open their presents. Love New Years too.

Religion doesn't need to be a part of it.

Its about spending time with family and friends and relaxing a bit. All While drinking and eating a bit too much. This time of years makes you appreciate it a bit more, its good whether religious or not to have the period in the year.

As I've got older it really isn't about presents for me. When you grow up, there isn't really much to get excited about anyway in terms of presents, I always get something along the lines of clothes. Nothing I couldn't buy myself. I appreciate getting them, but I look forward to having bit of time off and relaxing with friends and family more than anything. I have 2 young nieces, so its nice to see their reactions as well.

You don't need to believe in god to appreciate family and relaxing a bit. It's got nothing to do with jesus

As a little girl climbed onto Santa's lap, Santa asked the usual, "And what would you like for Christmas?"
The child stared at him open mouthed and horrified for a minute, then gasped, "Didn't you get my E-mail?"

Point is peoples' perspective pertaining to Religious Christmass has changed a great deal from the past....

May sound a bit of a cliché....But going back to basics...Christmas will always stay the season of spreading good cheer, of spending time with your family and of sharing, caring and giving.... Of love and compassion and of family bonding.

It's meaning has evolved over the years and the creation of the holiday is as much about having something to look forward to in what is technically the darkest and gloomiest period of the year. If you want it to be primarily about Jesus then fine but it doesn't have to be, for me it's more about getting together with the family and taking things easy for a few days and the older you get the more you appreciate how much children love the period and not realty because of the birth of Jesus.

Just a good excuse to eat and drink too much while it's dark and cold outside.

So when they wanted to rename it to wintermas or what not how many were outraged?

Christmas is a Christian festival.

I don't celebrate it because of that reason

I'm not a fan of Christmas. Not because I don't believe in god but because there is a lot of hypocrisy around it.

You'll see people at Christmas being nice to each other (which is great) only because of what time of year it is.

If we were as considerate of others all through the year then we would be much better off I think.

People in this country literally lose their minds this time of year, every aisle in the supermarkets knacker deep cos people are filling 2 trollies up, retail parks bursting at the seams with people maxing their credit cards out......................... the power of advertising.
