Woakes and Jordan are not of international standard. Willey looks a good prospect.. In swinging conditions he will cause problems for batsmen.I hope gets a game at test level..
I wouldnt play Broad at odi matches now. he should just plat test cricket.
Broad sould retire from the shorter formats and concentrate in Test match cricket.
I think Woakes & Jordan are being criticised harshly.
I think both Woakes & Jordan have long term future in the shorter formats. Jordan is possibly one of the best catchers in the game, His hand is like glue.
The big positive for England that they have a very strong bowling depth in all formats.
Woakes is a good death bowler for ODI cricket. He's definitely not a test match bowler however.
I'll be honest - there have been a lot of cricketers who have done MORE who have been picked only for a few games in the past (Neil Mallender anyone? Ed Giddins?) and then discarded! To my mind Jordan is a poorer Chris Lewis and Woakes very journeyman. Honest county cricketer who just lacks in most departments. And they are keeping the likes of Footit, Brooks etc) out
Footit was treated harshly imo however he needs a good county season to get back in contention.
Woakes & Jordan are more ODI/T20 players however Woakes has been below par in tests and need a good season with Warwickshire to get back into the test setup however Anderson is not gonna be around forever he may have a chance along woth other bowlers.
Also not to forget Finn who is a much better ODI bowler than Test so England do have a lot of options.
Topley need a good county season to get recognised for the test setup however he does have a very promising ODI future.
Didn't Footit have a very good season last year. I know he ripped Essex apart.
Finn a much ODI bowler than test? πππ’
Woakes has added a bit of pace but is to regular for International cricket.
Jordan does have something about him. Its almost as if he needs a good game to get him started.
I have rated Tolley for a few years now, though have been really impressed by Willey. He reminds me of a leftie who used to bowl mid 80s for Australia about 8 years ago. Tall, blonde lad. Mitchell something!
Got some good young lads coming through as well.
Nathan Bracken was who I was thinking of.
Would be happy with topley, willey, finn and 2 spinners and stokess as back up. If finn was unfit then plunkett. Shame about Jordan as superb fielder. Forget broad. Just play him in test matches. If he played odis his career will not last as long.
Question answered then. Topley VERY good, think we ought to look at him for tests. If Woakes and Jordan don't play again I will, quite honestly, be quite pleased.
Woakes has two lenghts full or short. You need to get the inbetween lenght at internatonal level.. Batters are much more talented.. Jordan bowls fuller. but his action often takes the ball leg stump and angling down the leg side.. Cannon fodder,
Topley could be the left armer we have been looking for. for along while at test level. He seems to swing it late..Needs to put on bit more pace. But seems to have the will to win.He loves taking wickets.
I could see a quartet of Anderson, Broad, Finn and Topley. Backed up with Stokes and (maybe) Moeen. Unless there is some help for the spinners I don't see the point otherwise having Moeen. That fast bowling line-up looks top class to me, could see a few test sides struggling against us
