Sarfraz Ahmed new T20 skipper. Not sure we had many choices but hopefully he will bring a new professional approach which was lacking from Afridi.

Waqar as a coach had to go. 3 tournament failures on the bounce under him. No strategy or philosophy on how to tackle limited overs cricket. There were external factors that did not help but he's out of date as a modern coach. Even his pace bowlers have regressed under him.

Is there much up coming talent coming through ? Pakistan cricket definitely needs some kind of reshuffle and maybe fresh faces with ability might help towards that .

Kash,

No idea where to start on Pakistan. If you're going to give sarfraz the captaincy in T20 you have to give him odis too.

I'll post later on Waqar - should have stayed on in my opinion.

Kashy,

Regarding Waqar it may be a good thing that he retired.. I'm not sure but I think it's high time u change everything from scratch. As I said in my thread that Pak has talent and with correct selections u can do lot better. If I remember u had a decent batsman named Fawad Aalam n I'm sure u got lot more.. I don't knw what PCB or selectors did to him

Both BCCI and PCB are utter disgrace to their respective countries..

Waqar was looking for change but his hands were tied. Some of the decisions were shocking and the most noticeable one was the selection of Manzoor which came out of nowhere.

Sethi not talking to Waqar for 18 months was a disgrace and god help you if Aaqib Javed is your new coach

If Hafeez can't bowl, he has to go. Shezad is a walking, slow scoring wicket. Umar Akmal has had too many chances. He's got the talent, but not the brains or honesty.

Sharjeel deserves a run as he has shown he can be destructive at the top. I'm 50:50 regarding Malik. He can score, but starts too slowly at times and he does offer a bowling option.

Pak need at least 6 bowling options. No top side goes into a game with just 5 frontline bowlers. They always seem to have six and a part time option. India had two fulltime spinners (Ashwin and Jadeja) as well as part timers (Yuvi and Raina). Add Nehra, Bumrah and Pandya and you have 7 to choose from. Australia used 6 bowlers in their last match vs India and could have used Smith as well. England have Stokes, Plunkett, Jordan, Willey and the spin twins for starters and Root in reserve.

There's not really much of that Pak team I'd want to keep. For me, there's only three definite names going forwards: Sharjeel, Ahmad, Amir. I still say they should try and nick Rashid Khan from Afghanistan.

U2 you hit the nail on the head. Far too many average players while players like Malik and Hafeez need to retire because they will both be 40 by the time the next WT20 cup is played. When it comes to Pakistan in limited overs its all about filling the gaps as we lack talent. My team:

1) Sharjeel
2) Sarfaraz
3) Babar
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)
9) Wahab (for now)
10) Yasir Shah
11) Amir

Facty/NW, Waqar may have had his hand tied but that will never change with an inept board like PCB. Waqar for me lost it when I watch the pace bowlers. There is no strategy with them. All they do is bowl fast while the world vary the pace, bowl cutters etc etc.

He's given some pretty inept coaching to the bowlers.

There's a lot of gaps there Kashy. Some bowlers have shown potential but haven't pushed on. Junaid looked promising, even Irfan with his height but they have stagnated. Maybe that's partly down to Waqar, I don't really know.

Who is out there that may be good enough for those vacant spots?

Waqar should have stayed on for my liking. Having watched his interview last week, it's clear that he hasn't had much power or control. Pcb favouritism had and is reckoning Pakistan cricket.... Agree about the bowling kash, but generally speaking bowlers haven't been the issue. Selection and batting has. What's Waqar suppose to do with a dkhead that ran to Imran Khan during pak India game complaining about management because they bat him at 5......

Hafeez is another joke. He's come out today and said he "will speak the truth" about Pakistan cricket. Think he's not happy with team management saying he faked injury.

Malik is a traitor. Shhhhzad is sht. Some of these guys had talent, but have ruined themselves by the obsession with painting their lips green and taking selfies rather than making a name for themselves on the field.

Aaqib not getting it. Has confirmed today that he's not applying because the PCB has said to him they want a foreign coach. Pakistan next tours are England, Saffers and then Aussies. All away.good luck to whoever comes in

Well we do have players like Imad, Nawaz and Anwar who are gap fillers jack of trades but master of nothing type.

We could try Crapsood again and there was that Mukhtar Ahmed who started well and then after a bad game or 2 was shown the door for first Rafatulla, then Khurram and to finish things off then Sheetzad.

I don't disagree the bowlers have been poor but when the selectors continue to pick mediocrity Sami, Irfan and Anwar Ali there is so much you can do as a coach.

Kash,

With the way salman butt and asif are playing in domestic leagues don't be surprised if they take up some of those empty spots... Really hope pcb doesn't bring them back though, regardless of how well they are playing and our need - butt should never be forgiven he was captain. Asif had previous and that just topped it off.. Shouldn't return in a million years, but with pcb I wouldn't put it past them

posted on 7/4/16

Yeah I've heard about Butt being on good form. He should never play regardless. He was never that good in the first place.

The biggest problem is the PCB themselves. Incapable of making the correct decisions.

Changing coaches and captains have all been done before.

We need decent PCB / selectors to start. I'd like to see Mohsin Khan involved there somewhere.

They anger me so much. Nawaz Sheriff been named in that tax haven scheme. The guy's shiiitttting money out of every hole yet nothing will be done to him

posted on 8/4/16

Nawaz Sharif has stole billions from Pakistan wealth. The guy is a crook. Every time he is able to rig the elections and because he allows the US to dictate his leadership he is untouchable.

Any other county Imran Khan would have been elected years ago.
