Amir included in Pakistan squad

I always had mixed feelings regarding Amir but no way I would support players like Salman Butt or Asif. If Amir was Indian, I wouldn't prefer him playing for my country no matter how talented he may be! For me country's pride comes first. I know folks would argue regarding second chances but certain issues like rape, murder and a Nation' reputation doesn't merit for it. However they can play at domestic club level or choose some other profession like janitor to survive.

Just my two cents!

Amir deserves another chance. He was only 18 so was young and naive and wrongly influenced by certain people. I know that isn't really much of an excuse though. The likes of Salman Butt and Mohamad Asif though good riddance to them!

I'm 50:50 on this. You can argue he's done his time, so he should be allowed to carry on especially as he was very young at the time and easily influenced.

It'd be nice if they got everyone else that was up for a bit of fixing in the 80s and 90s etc.

I don't know why my previous comment got deleted. I just gave examples but for any reason if it did hurt anybody's feelings, my sincere apologies.. Looking forward for an amazing cricket battle and hope it's not one sided event..

I really miss Junaid in the squad. How can selectors go for the likes of Rahat Ali and Imran Khan but not him.

posted on 7/6/16

@Winning well said. Junaid is lot better than Rahat or Imran and Pakistan is lucky to have always good bowlers. Hope my team India gets some decent test bowlers soon so at least we can compete lot better in Aus or SA..

Amir gets his visa. Broad says England players won't go after him. I don't buy that for one second.

So basically England bended the rules for this former cheat. According to rules he wasn't eligible until 2017. What kind of message is ECB sending to young kids/youngsters? As long as you are young, you can get away with the crime. Justifying slap on the wrist huh! Utter disgrace and can't believe this crap going on.

Just Wow!!

Reports saying that his visa has been agreed.

He'll probably get some stick from the crowd on his first couple of games but should be ok after that.

I'm glad he's returned. He was only 18 at the time and deserves a second chance.

U2,

Some basic facts pal:

Amir was released from jail in Feb, 2012. According to your UK visa rules, he was not eligible to get visa until 2017. So rules were especially bended for him to play in 2016! ECB could have stopped way before but they didn't and allowed him to apply & get approved.

I live in US and had Amir committed the same crime here, he would be convicted of felony. Further he may never be able to enter US as we have lot more strict visa/immigration rules. I am not against second chances and just like any regular citizen who was convicted for the crime should have been allowed to enter England in 2017 as per your UK rules.

I respect rules and there is a reason we have in a civilized society. Otherwise everyone will be playing the system and abuse it.

Also your captain Cook said that match fixers should be banned for life. All these facts; you can google or see espncricinfo website. No rocket science or brain surgery needed my friend.

Why not put up a fuller quote from Cook?

He said if it was up to him, he'd ban match fixers for life. But it's not actually up to him is it? He also said he's done his time so he has no gripes about playing against him.

As to the visa rules. Well there can be special cases made for an exception to the standard rules. There was such a case made and an exemption was given. Not too hard to follow really.

Remember, it's not rocket science or brain surgery.

U2,

It's all good bro. I understand where u coming from and UK is lot more laid back compared to US.. Time to move on and hope we see exciting cricket..

What has the ECB or English side got to do with the home office issuing a visa?

And U2 you complaining about people reporting comments is the biggest piece of hypocrisy ever πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

ECB supported and helped Amir to get his visa and when last time he applied in his personal capacity; he was denied for it. So all in all, without the support of ECB, it wasn't possible.

Now do you get it or not? You can try to find the facts too before commenting!

He's been cleared by the ICC to return to cricket you clown. What are the ECB to do? Deny him?

posted on 12/6/16

You dumb amuck.. First read your earlier question and try to analyze. If u can't, let me explain real quick as you asked what has ECB got to do with his visa since it's separate from issuing any immigration issues. In this particular case, I stated that they intervened and supported it big time. Without them Amir wouldn't have got the visa this time.

Now you also bringing ICC which has nothing to do with UK immigration rules. It doesn't matter if he is cleared or not! Please don't forget to take your meds pal

You're lucky I even let you comment here cornflakes. Stick to your schoolwork, luvvie.

So many of your comments are factually baseless, like the ones above.

U2,

Just ignore him bro. He seems to have some searious issues. I have noticed that in every thread he writes crap and try to create trouble. Let's hope we see some exciting cricket and not like current Sri Lanka series. As a neutral fan I don't care who wins but want tough fight between otherwise we all get bored with one-sided series.

I also think Pak may give decent fight compared to India as they have lot better bowling line up than us. However their batting needs to step up big time and of-course fielding..
