Is the Great Khali back ?
No I am not upset. Why should I waste my energy and be upset about a sinking ship? Mind you, this a ship that has decided to sink on itself. They could get back, but somehow they don't acknowledge they are sinking because they are that dumb. Even though half of the ship is already in the sea. That's WWE for you
Nothing about the Brand Split looks different
The split wont really happen till monday, they've only done the draft nothing else
Apparently they're bringing up quite a few from NXT and resigning lots of forner wrestlers to fill out the rosters.
Doubt if the split will last long, just like it didnt ten years ago.
I don't think they will be in up too many more from next, the only guy ready would be Joe but he needs a while in nxt as champ

Whilst I'd like that to be true, the truth is that it couldn't be farther from the truth.
WWE Network subscriptions, merchandise and a more child friendly product has meant that this company isn't feeling the hit of the ratings drop.
They put that down to the fact that modern viewers record the product so live viewers are irrelevant.
It's a billion dollar machine so don't be expecting changes any time soon.

RAW was very good and Smackdown was solid

Yup. On a side note I'm loving the new camera work during fights as well.
It was done to prolong the life span of SmackDown (which was under threat of cancellation) by making it a show where Cena appears exclusively. Nothing more, nothing less.
The only thing I dislike about the concept of a brand split in general is a two world title system - and I believe the "Universal Championship" makes that point better than I ever could in a comment. That's right up there with "Divas Championship" in terms of title names that just make you cringe at WWE's shamelessness regarding their overblow marketing campaigns. Just terrible.
But on the plus side, early signs suggest it'll be a good temporary injection of life into the product where the TV goes. Whether the writers are competent or not, fact is it's easier to book effectively and pragmatically the less bodies you have to accommodate, both Raw & SmackDown proved that this week.
Raw wasn't great because of the brand split.
I appreciated some of the aesthetic choices that were made. Felt like classic WWF.
But the real reason Raw was good was because the matches had significance.
Fatal Four ways
Womens title
No.1 contender for new title at Summerslam.
This is exactly what Raw needs to maintain otherwise the matches are just run of the mill events with nothing riding on them.
I have to give it to WWE, they surprised me with some changes, but will see. Just when you think they got things right they now have some messed up camera angle
Shelton Benjamin coming back and another is rumoured (i wont say due to spoilers) is meant to be back soon as well.
Metro
And it's much easier to book matches with significance when (a) you have less high profile stars to work with, goes a long way to eliminating 50-50 booking with matches designed to just give star B his win back. And (b) the condensed roster allows the show to flow better with filler matches/segments actually designed to spotlight people (rather than throwing in yet another meaningless match to give a guy necessary TV time).
I'll give two little examples to illustrate what I mean. Without the presence of Breeze & Fandango cutting into their time, Golden Truth were able to act as that comic relief stop gap they're supposed to be. Able to do their thing solo without writers worrying about any other comedy acts to spotlight. And the use of jobber matches easing the tempo of the show down after Balor's debut and Banks' title win. Without the brand split, they'd have been forced to put a random match in that spot which wouldn't have gone over.

Agree with this.
When the best of the roster continually go head to head, the matches lose any x-factor.
They need to make the big matches feel like a novelty again and having jobbers will help.
I wonder how long Roman will pay for his wellness violation, pinned clean twice on two nights in a row! he will be gutted.
The jobber match is a dying art. Helps pace out shows while giving the fans a chance to identity with a fresh wrestler's gimmick and move set while they gather their breath back. One of wrestling's oldest, most effective methods of character promotion and WWE just doesn't do it. Who knows why?
That new woman fighting that tiny girl 1/4 of her weight was utterly pathetic. I know jobber matches were the norm once but only really work when the jobber has a slight chance of winning and gets a bit of offence in.
"Universal" is a laughable name for a champion.

Nah, never been the way I've seen jobber matches. They're meant to give the wrestler an opportunity to showcase everything they're about without the distraction of selling for their opponent. They're like commercials advertising a product.
You'll get certain guys or girls who'll prove their limitations with jobbers matches of course, but if the wrestler in question is a good entertainer he'll put on entertaining jobber matches. See Sandow as a relatively recent example
Yeah - I'm old enough to remember Yokozuna squashing guys regularly on the early episodes of Raw back in the early 90s
The jobber being interviewed was brilliant. Couldnt have picked a better guy to be squashed either

So um Rhyno is running for state office as a Republican, still signed to Smackdown right?
