There is a reason why Farage was excluded from the Vote Leave campaign... and it's not his love of a cig!

He had to meet Gove, Boris etc in secret as he was seen to be too extremist to be associated with the official campaign.

The UK already has controlled immigration, and even if post Brexit that means less EU citizens, it’s in no way racist. Stupid, but not racist.

But let’s not kid ourselves, Farage has made a career out of falsifying migration figures, and instilling fear into those who have genuine concerns about migrants.

Does anyone even know his position on any other political issue - other than migration and the EU.

At best, he’s a dog whistle..

yep its so controlled its record figures and people are hoping out of vans on the M4 every day

Do you think ‘illegals’ will all of a sudden, stop in their tracks, turn back, and decide not to bother, just because the UK has left the EU?

Forgot to mention, as there is no way of documenting illegal immigrants, (other than those who have been refused asylum and deported) how do you know there are “record figures”

Could you point me to the body/organisation that retain these “record figures” ?

Do the 'illegals’ have to check in somewhere to report themselves (service stations maybe) after leaving the M4?

Never heard so much garbage.

He was the catalyst behind Vote Leave regardless of what campaign he was part of. You'd be foolish to believe otherwise.

His own party also amassed over 4million votes at the last election - people weren't exactly 'put off' then.

I assume you therefore missed the BBC 2 documentary "Brexit: The Battle for Britain" in which the above came to light??

EH? A documentary doesn't speak on behalf of those who voted for Brexit.

A few vox pops won't help either.

As for sizzle, your maths assume that everyone votes when the 'facts' show that turnout was 66% (about 45m)

Your entire posting history on here has been conjecture and cheerleading. Very poor form.

The documentary interviewed/followed the politicians involved in weeks and month leading up to the vote. It was not an editorial piece but a transcript of what actually happened.

They filmed Gove on the phone to Farage discussing strategy etc. Gove conceded they had to speak over the phone as meeting in person was too risky.

Out of interest, why do you think Farage was excluded from the Vote Leave campaign?

But that's purely Goves position. The previous election showed that UKIP garnered over 12% of the electorate - that's massive and was the biggest growth since the election of 2010 (vote share up 9.5%)

UKIP were clearly the champions of the referendum and its head was Farage. The irony of course is that Gove himself was a divisive figure, as was Galloway, as was Johnson.

You ask why I believe he was left out - well, I didn't even give it much thought. I looked upon all the leave campaigns as the same voice. Some were better than others obviously but given that Farage had already got one over on a Parliament that 3/4 wanted to remain, it wouldn't surprise me that they just didn't want him to get the glory - but history will give him it.. I'm sure

I already answered that.

Who are these people that viewed Farage as extremist?

Remember my rebuttal? He was clearly the driving force behind Leave and his party weren't exactly without support at last GE.

I don't need to watch a documentary as it cannot speak for 17m voters.

If there were people out there that were basing their vote on the calibre of those on the campaigns then more fool them. It was a binary choice.

My point remains.

Farage was systematically frozen out of the Leave campaign. He was in turn forced to run his own independent campaign.

He has spoken about it on a number of occasions.

Vote Leave also went as far to ban him from attending the Wembley debate.

When he rolled out the fake/xenophobic "Breaking Point" poster Vote Leave (rightly) condemned him.

They wanted nothing to do with him (publicly) as he was seen as a negative. A guy that spent his entire career trying to get the UK to leave the EU.
