However, my understanding of this proposal is that it would involve a pre-group stage knockout round, rather than giving teams a chance of qualifying from their group in 3rd, which I believe was the true contributing factor in the poor quality and lack of ambition on show at the Euros.
Not sure how this is going to work in Qatar winter tournament when time is limited unless the plan is for 2026?
Still more games and more of a get out of jail card for underperforming teams to win it.
Portugal have to go down as the worst winners ever and should of been out at the group stages

Portugal were far worse. Might have had better individual but Greece actually won games and not rely on penalties and finishing 3rd in a group without a win.

Nah I think you forget how bad Greece were.
Greece played no different to any Italian winning side, strong back line and winning 1-0.
On paper Greece were the worst team to win it because they had no "Stars" performance wise it was Portugal they were just awful, stop aticking up for you boyfriend Ronaldo.

Portugal played the much better football. Greece's footvall was complete shiiiiit.
Scotland still wouldn't qualify.

English people's opinion on international football isn't worth anything, sorry but it's the truth, you all fecking hate it, then get all excited, then get let down and hate it again.
Might just be easier to scrap group qualification and go straight to a WC involving every team. It's the direction they appear to want to go in so cut to the chase and do it.

They need to adopt our mentality and just be happy to be at the party.
They have little or no chance of winning so just enjoy it.
I love international tournaments although in recent years they have been crap Brazil 14 and Germany 06 being standouts, Euro 2012 was ok aswell.
The last Euros was the worst one yet, partly to do with the expansion.
