this is the format that MVG probably struggles the most in as you only need to hold your throw 3 times to win a set
I remember when he played Wade in the semi the year he won it n it was 3-2 in sets but 13 - 6 in legs or something
i reckon Peter Wright is the man to beat aside of MVG
Smith v Rapid may be a great watch even if I do feel that Rapid looks like a character from the Beano or Viz,not sure why.
Like Caven but be good to see Painter go through. Decent night for openers but,sadly no Bristow due to an unfortunate slip of the tongue and a notably rabid response from all the professional offendees. Of course he was stupid but way over the top responses similar to when some Labour tw.t stated Tyson Fury would be in some way responsible for gay men taking their lives because he said what he did about it.

Cadby certainly looks like he is enjoying himself. No nerves there.

Very impressive first set for Cadby. 98 average, 2 ton plus finishes, 3-0.
Another 100 plus, 103 average now.
Would give anyone a game with these stats. Can he keep it up into the main tournament?
Doubt there has ever been a better prelim performance than that.

King - West level at 2-2 in sets and 3-3 in legs. Both players losing their bottle on the doubles, West had game darts that were very poor.
Two breaks means it is 4-4 in 5th set.
Loads of missed doubles, but King breaks again. 5-4. King with the throw to take the game.
