Dier and Dembele havent started a game together this season have they (as a pair I mean)?

Whatever chemistry they have just seems to work.

Love Vic though, a much more skilful player than I gave him credit for

He just needs a bit more composure in front of goal and he'd be superb

Don't think they've paired in CM this season HRH but they've both had plenty of minutes and just don't look anywhere near as commanding / confident / effective as last season

I like Vic too but i don't like the sterile look of our attack when he plays with Dembele, both in the middle of the park. I didn't like him for the first 5 minutes of yesterdays game v much though - maybe he is still in a festive mood when he gave away that stupid free kick for their opener 2 mins in.

Dembele isn't a scape goat. Last season he was immense and got praised. This season he has been shocking and is being criticised. Don't see what the issue is tbh. Let's not kid ourselves and pretend he's been good

this

tbh, he has more leeway with the fans than any other player at Spurs. We were still singing his name despite a really poor showing culminating in a subbing yet again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think this is a bad thing actually, showing a young player unwavering support.

wouldn't class dembele as a young player, but of course i have no issue with fans supporting players through bad spells.

its coming to the stage where winks should be starting ahead of him though, dembele really has been awful

Must be just me who thinks that Dembele has been nowhere near as bad as people are making out. One or two stray passes yesterday aside

Must be as he's been rubbish this season bar the Arsenal game.

Analog, correct

It was a 6/10 performance, very much meh. We know he can be a lot better so there is some frustration there

Maybe their great form last season was largely a result of the partnership itself just working? Who knows - I suppose we will have to see how they do back in tandem.

You would think Wanyama and Dembele would be a bit more dynamic, but it doesnt quite click properly does it? Strange one.

Dier seems to me to be the more comfortable long passer, perhaps that just marries well to Dembele's strong running with the ball, whereas Vic likes to do a bit of running himself.

It must be as you say HRH, Dier and Wanyama have a different skillset when the former plays DM.

The team dynamic has changed from last season - we seem to have eased off on the forward pressing (less effective without Lamela) and just let Wanyama chase everything down bit deeper than last year.

Dembele is having an off season too, for me. Can't be relied on for a whole match. Last season he was twice the player and that alone is probably the biggest factor in us looking less potent

On the positive side, Sissoko was very good against the Saints i though, but Alli stole the limelight with two very good finishes!

@vert groove

No he still has his hip injury like Ledleys knee apparently just not as severe.

He has regular treatment on it and is rested from training. (Your more than welcome to come watch with me you'll see that he leaves earlier than the others before a match day and after one)

Alternatively check his weekly 90 minutes record and see how many games he has played twice in one week.

Alternatively check how many times Belgium rest him especially for friendlies or close together qualifiers.

No reason to lie.

@analog

I'm not too sure why you always jump on everything I say and call me names. You seem to think your opinion is better than mine.

I'll make you a bet £100 that come the end of the season, sissoko is regarded as a better player than dembele.

Moussa vs moussa.

We can even have a vote on here see who is regarded the better player at the end of the season get everyone involved.

Bet void if either god forbid breaks a leg or tears a patella long term injury etc.

You up for it?

Jesus. You would be stupid not to take this bet Analog. Don't get me wrong I'm happy Sissoko is starting to look good but I'm not getting ahead of myself yet. I still don't think any of our signings this summer bar Wanyama have been good enough

posted on 29/12/16

Sissoko is a beast in the middle of midfield, knew him from his Toulouse days and was gutted Newcastle signed him.

posted on 29/12/16

I'd take the bet on neither tearing their patella. Bit hard to tear your kneecap

posted on 30/12/16

Question is will Poch insist on playing him out wide or through the middle where most believe is his best position?

posted on 30/12/16

We all know there is a player in there, albeit not a consistent one.

He has been here 4 months now, and should now be fully fit and tuned in to what Poch wants from him. His recent improvement may well be an indicator to this.

The next few months are what seperates the men from the boys. Conditions are hard, and players start to feel the effects of the first half of the season. What we have here is a physical beast full of running who is pretty fresh. I think he will be a key player for us in Winter

I think you've already won it. After that performance Sissolo isn't going to get many more opportunities
