Why not? Cos he plays for Swansea? he could do a job or two for us.

We need more of a box to box midfielder than a no.10.

Can you elaborate side...?
To do what....in place of who...?

Both types I mean
Good player but will only exceed as a big fish in a small pond imo. Struggled and didnt enjoy being a bit part player at Spurs.
We just sold Oscar because he didn't get a look in. What a stupid and pointless signing Sigurdsson would be.
What we need is defensive reinforcement to replace Cahill/Alonso. Definitely could do with someone like Vidal in midfield.
I wouldn't sit sig and oscar in the same place...oscar was cack

No. Because he wouldn't suit the 3-4-3, and he isn't better than Willian, Pedro or Fabregas.

Sigurdsson is a much better player than Oscar. Not saying that he'd be a good signing but comparing him to Oscar is strange. How we got £50-60 million for him I will never ever know.
I think his spell at Spurs showed he's suited to being the main man at a smaller club

True, but he still hasn't played for a big club yet so maybe fair to give him a chance first.
Jamaat - we sold Oscar because we were offered £60M. But I do agree that Sigurdsson is not good enough to command a first team place, and therefore not worth buying.
And I agree with Sideshow that he is more of a number 10, and we are more in need of a box-to-box midfield player (in place of Matic). As an attacking midfield player Sigurdsson would therefore be vying for a place against Willian and Pedro. And there's no point investing in a player who is no better than the players we already have.
Chelsea players who could be replaced by stronger players in England:
Cahill - van Dijk (although is January likely?)
Alonso - not sure which English based wing backs are available in January, if any.
Matic - again, not sure there's a Verratti, Vidal, Kroos or Nainggolan in England and available in January. Any of the above would be nice though.
And Sheriff - Dembele and Mane are both great players - but they do not play in the same position. A players like Dembele could play alongside Kante in the middle of midfield as a box-to-box player. A player like Mane would be an attacking midfield player, and in our system would presumably play instead of Pedro/Willian.
I don't think that Sigurdsson is on the club's radar but I certainly wouldn't be against us signing him as he's a good player. Not sure where he would play exactly but we're not married to a 3-4-3 formation and neither is our manager.

We did not play to his strengths to be honest. Often shunted left instead of through the middle playing off a striker.
I had a feeling there was a Lampard-style player there in the right system. Albeit one Chelsea do not play either to be fair
Decent player but where is he going to fit into Chelsea's team?
With the formation you're playing there's no room for a number 10 style player.
Fabregas is still good but on the wane & AC doen't rate him enough to slot him into our current format as it stands,
----------------------------------------------------------
I'm in good company then!!
If rumours are to be believed we'll be tempting Swansea with a bid for Llorente.
Llorente, really? Why not play that young striker you spent all that money on? Mourinho's gone and Chelsea is still a graveyard for youngsters.
