Ake Recalled

LB is not exactly the same as LWB. I am a bit sceptical about using him there.

What happened to Kenedy ? What's wrong with him ? I think he'd be more suited the LWB role. He looked pretty decent last season too !!

I really don't see the issue with playing him at LWB, he has impressed at LB and and in midfield. He's good on the ball too and has good delivery going forward.

He's a young player who has proven he's adaptable.

Let's hope so Droog. He'll probably get game time thanks to his versatility. Luiz is playing through injury atm, also Cahill can be shaky at times. He'll be our utility player

I'll be interested to see where he gets minutes. With Terry and Zouma coming back I think his chances will be limited in the three. I think he's more naturally suited to the system than either of those two but Zouma's little bit more experience at this level will give him the edge this season.

Looking forward to seeing where Zouma plays tomorrow if he lines up as expected.

For me Ake has natural footballing ability and i like his temperament.

He may not be a natural wing back but i think he can adapt....he is a more natural footballer than Moses, so if he can do it, why not Ake?

I'm definitely in two minds about this Ake recall. If he's actually going to play LWB instead of Alonso then understandable. If he's being brought in as CB/CM backup then I doubt he'll get a game.

Is he going to be in much of a different situation to Chalobah though?

Both started as Central Defenders, who have played Full back and also moved into central midfield!

If he's coming home will he get anymore game time than Chalobah?

He's done really well on loan after waiting a while to make the team down there. Although he's only been playing the last couple of months I think it has been hugely valuable and he returns a more complete player and certainly more prepared for first team football with us.

I can imagine some will see how he's doing and have a certain fear he'll sit on our bench and go backwards but I don't see it like that, he's done it as a regular and now he'll be around better players closer to an equal and use each experience, he's just that type of player. I can't recall him ever looking out of depth for us and I'm excited to see him this season for us even if it will be limited.

He won't be rushed in to the team but he's the sort of player who will take his chance when it comes.

While staying on the south coast would've also been good for his education I don't see this recall as limiting him particularly but I'd also put Chelsea's title charge ahead of his personal development if that means he's called upon three or four times come May.

Fewer appearances more minutes I suspect, Chalobah tends to come on in the final ten minutes to offer a bit more steel and energy to see a game out, I think Ake will get the odd start.
