Hope Dhoni is able to play freely like before and get his old hitting capability back. If he still struggles then it's time for him to hang the boots and give some youngster chance. Sooner the better as we want to be ready for World Cup and hope we have a settled team by then!
Completely disagree with all the points made in this article.
Dhoni has hardly hidden at all in his career, in fact when needed it has been him that has stood up for this Indian side. He has managed to win games on his own by coming in towards the finish, remaining calm and smashing us towards victory. He is a finisher and rightly so because that is what he is best at doing - not constructing an innings.
Even in T20, simply promoting a slogger to open rarely works. You require stroke players to set the innings up either for a big score or a succesful chase - the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Yuvraj and Raina should always be batting ahead of Dhoni. This is why I feel Dhoni rarely bats that high up in limited overs cricket and should not do so still. He still walks into the side because of his ability as a late finisher and his glovework. Also, its clear Kohli obviously has a massive amount of respect for the former captain and will no doubt ask Dhoni where he feels he is best suited. I am sure what will be best for the team will dictate. If there is one player in world cricket that has displayed that he does not have much of an ego, it is MS Dhoni.

DHoni should step up to the plate and bat higher up the order. It's easier when the pressure is off (even if it's on), when your team is in trouble. Fail, and you were in a tough spot and youcan blame the others above you in the order. Succeed and you are a hero.
Kavvy has no objectivity at all.
Not that he doesn't have one but he has been very selfless for much of his career. Anyone denying this has clearly not watched him play over the years.

Whilst I feel Dhoni (at his peak) was one of the best finishers ever, I do agree with U2 on one aspect. If you are one of the better ODI batsmen in the team (as Dhoni was), then you should bat higher. It does give you a ready made excuse, if you win, you scored under pressure and if u lose (oh I was running out of partners, impossible situation whereas sometimes he created it by playing so slow at the beginning).
Chanderpaul, Misbah, Bopara have all struggled with this in the past. But to be fair to Dhoni, he finished many matches and had the captaincy and keeping to contend with.
Think Dhoni should bat 4 not the finisher he used to be, but provides valuable experience, for me he should bat 4
