We couldn't qualify for the Euros so there's no chance we could qualify for an expanded World Cup.

The press in the big countries like Spain, Germany and England will spin this as a bad thing and all about money.
That's just because those countries are pretty much guaranteed to qualify every year, regardless of the size of the tourney. And selfishly, they just don't want to spread the wealth.
In reality the tournament desperately needs expansion.
As more countries have taken up football over the years, the tournament has always expanded. It needs to be big enough that any country could have a shot of qualifying, from Faroes to Philippines.
The world cup shouldn't just be about lining the pockets of the elite.
The finals shouldn't be bigger !!!! The qualification stage is where the sh!t is eliminated.....not the finals.
My issue is 32 of the 48 teams will qualify from the group stages which make the group stages look pointless.
Why not 16 teams qualify from the group stages?

Not a fookin chance. Strachan will still be in charge. We'll miss out on the expanded WC. But it'll be deemed progress. Strachan awarded new contract.

48 teams is a bit much but if they make it unseeded then by all means.
Would be great to have a knockout tournament based on luck. Would throw up all kind of winners.

Not true.
England have qualified for the Finals for decades.
Euros in the 80's.
Yugoslavia had to pull out due to a civil war.
Denmark hadn't qualified but took their place in the Finals.
They went on to win the tournament.
Politics and cash. Africa and Asia will get more places so too CONCACAF. Infantino is just as corrupt as Blatter though even Blatter wouldn't have agreed to this.
In a group of three the final games can't be played at the same time, leaves it open to all sorts, how convenient. Who is even gonna host such a thing? More than one again? Great f$ck the fans once again. Who'd be even bothered watching the qualifiers ffs 😂
