Maybe it's because he got a taste for scoring into the south stand.

If we get Lansbury it'll be because Hughes will be leaving. Hughes will command a fee large enough to cover the Lansbury and Nugent deals so no matter how much you dogs would love us to be sanctioned it won't be happening.

RFB, the Kenny Burns of 606

He's not bad but £40k a week!....😵

Still reckon he will get nabbed by the likes of Watford tbh.

Will, just because the NEP reports it so, doesn't mean it's fact. £4m and £40k a week means Villa are welcome to him.

To put things in to perspective with Lansbury. Will Hughes rejected a new deal as it wasn't in line with the highest earners at the club which is estimated to be around £25k per week. But the club would be willing to smash and almost double that wage for Lansbury? I doubt it.

40k a week

For that, I'd insist that Lansbury had a shave and got his haircut.

Thank God we are being run by a proper owner and not a bottler who goes into hiding

£40k/week would get us an established PL player on the wane rather than a (at best) decent Championship player.

I'd rather have kept O'Hendrix if this is the kind of replacement we'd have to sanction.

There is not a lot wrong with our midfielders if we keep Will and build on De Sart. Not that would warrant such an expenditure anyway. But of course, if we don't keep will - that's a different story.

IF you pay a player 2 million a year and the transfer fee is 4 million then to get that player for 4 years costs you 12 million pounds. If the transfer fee is 10 million and you pay him a million a year then it costs you 14 million. In Lansbury's case I suppose he would command a much higher fee if we wasn't near the end of his contract so you could argue that it might be possible to get your money back if you were to sell him in a couple of years. That would depend on another club picking up his wages of course. The other factor is the knock-on effect with other players both at the club and potential new signings who would know what the going rate is at Derby and who would want a piece of that action for themselves.

No then.

40k a week is ridiculous for a player like Lansbury as it would be for Hughes. They aren't really that similar players from what I've seen anyway so I can't see him being a replacement.

Not sure where Lansbury would fit in to the Derby side at present, signing De Sart can push Johnson more forward meaning we have four very good Championship players already for two positions

I dont see we need to sign anyone else in this window as this squad are more the capable of achieving a top six spot and then if all four play off teams bring there A game to the mini tournament I'd fancy us barring really bad luck

I've seen to many times mass signings in January derail us so Id leave as is unless a really good opportunity arises

Crazy money from an industry that has lost all sense. Stupidity is in fashion.

I agree with you regarding the Midfield Backo, Lansbury offers us nothing that we do not already have, however, we are desperate for a proper left back.

We already have three left backs on the books so I'd leave alone until the season finishes

You could argue that we need a right back more but again I'd leave until pre season and look at the injured Hearts player for a free. Plenty of alternatives for full backs, for me, to keep us going

I'm with Bush. We have strengthened our scoring capacity and we have good players in all our positions at the moment. Now SMc needs to be given time and encouragement to organise the team to reach their full potential which I am sure will get us into the play-offs and more than likely come out on top.

Still think we need a loanee or 2 to cover for all our injured wide defenders. We are down to utility players filling in at the moment.
