TBH I was surprised we went back to yuvi. He really has struggled since 2011. I guess this time given that we don't play too many one days before CT we have gone to the old players. But honestly speaking don't think this will be a good mix for the World Cup. Our one day team is quite poor overall and depends a lot on kohli. We need to blood youngsters.

Want to add: Dhoni was good captain/player until 2011-2012 but lost his touch afterwards! He was lucky too when we won World Cup in 2011 due to Sachin, Yuvi etc.. I know he played well in final but he was also out of form most of the tournament. We wouldn't have reached finals.. Hence he wouldn't have played that good knock if we had failed to reach the finals. Just my two cents!!

Viru,

I still cannot forget how Yuvi messed up T20 World Cup for us. Not only he was struggling but selfish too. Just remember or watch that match! Also Dhoni did some bizarre captainship in that game. Raina was in form but he preferred Yuvi to bat higher who has out of form and lacking in confidence. It were signs of Dhoni loosing some brain cells for sure

The selectors and Kohli have shown they will give the kids a chance, if you are good enough you are old enough. Rishabh Pant being included in the T20 squad proves this. However this should also work in reverse. If an older player is performing in Ranji, he should also be given a chance. Perhaps you two have missed Yuvraj's amazing form for Punjab this year - he slapped Madhya Pradesh's bowlers round a couple of months ago in making 177 on an excellent bowling surface. Not to mention the double hundred against Baroda. He is still one of the best we have - unlucky to get strangled down the leg side today.

Ashish Nehra even is still in the T20 squad - we can't just get rid of any senior player due to wanting to blood youngsters. It has to be a phasing process not simply done overnight. I agree that the batting is too reliant on Kohli but hopefully getting Rahane and Rohit into this XI might help despite their various issues with inconsistency and form. Dhawan also needs to get his finger out of his arseeehole because once Rohit returns, his place is not guaranteed.

My frnd Kav,

As u know I highly regard ur opinions on this forum and understand ur views. I'm not against any players due to their age as long as they are performing. Yuvi is 35 though and I don't see playing him next World Cup. No matter what form; he is not the same player he was! If you noticed sharply his reflexes have changed quite a bit. Now in batting, we have better options than Yuvi and that is why I'm not in favor for his selection. Same with Dhawan Babu n Dhobi Baba! Now in bowling we don't have much options as batting so Uncle Nehra is getting chances in his twilight years!

Again we can agree to disagree my frnd

I agree he probably won't be around for 2019 world cup but that is still two and a half years away. A lot can happen between now and then. At the moment the priority should be the Champions Trophy. Our middle order is quite weak but no one has really stepped up to the mark. Jadhav has done well today and don't forget he is also 31 - age shouldn't be an issue if you are performing. That is my point.

I agree Kav that age shouldn't be an issue if they are performing.. Let me give an example bro: Pandey deserves more than Yuvi at this point! He played a gem of inning in Australia and scored century but look how many chances he got? I think players like Rohit, Yuvi, Ishant, Dhawan get lot more chances instead of folks how have showed potential in lot less games. Recent e.g. Nair stepped up and Jayant Yadav. Is it fair for Pandey that Yuvi who scored in domestic season compared to his century against Australia in Australia better? I can go on but long story short that we have better players at present who deserves to play ahead of Yuvi, Dhawan etc. I think even Parthiv is better bat than Dhawan Pajee.. But we keep on giving chances to these players for endless times.

If they fail then Yuvi type players should get chances who scored well in Ranji games. But at-least give them a decent run for God's sake!

Just my view on present players capable or more deserving to play for India.

I forgot earlier to add that our selections sometimes is mind boggling to give chances to players like Gamby. In my view he is finished for International cricket but we still keep on giving chances to such players. Mishrajee is not fit for tests either. His old legs can't field nor bat and we saw his bowling.. He may still be OK for shorter formats but that also if our main bowlers are injured..

I think first class performance should not be the full criteria. Players like Bhajji, gambhir and yuvi have performed in first class time and again, but they have struggled quite a lot in international cricket. We are really missing an opportunity. How many players have we seen play for India since wc? There has been 100 different combinations that we have had. We just need to draw a line and bring guys who are young. Kohli was brought in when he was young. See how good he is now. Bringing players who are in their 30s is very short term vision and is hardly paying the dividends.

Will be interesting to see what dhoni does after CT. I reckon he might retire because otherwise if he was going to carry on till WC, he would stayed as a captain.

It will be amazing to see both yuvi and dhoni back in their old form.

Where are all the England fans? Hiding somewhere

Well I hope decent posters like Sheriff shows up next time!

am not hiding.. Just lost interest in cricket..never really been that fond of one day cricket anyway.

I think in the past when we've lost in close games like this, we've simply said that we're just not good at ths form of cricket, we don't play enough, we don't really care.

There can now be surely no excuse for this latest bottlejob. We have been doing well at this level, winning many matches, putting runs on the board.

The truth is we don't have a clue what our best bowling line-up is for ODIs and also we have bowlers that want to restrict rather than take wickets.

Having India at 63-4 and letting them chase 350 is just criminal. Of course with Kohli there you can never rule out any game but he really didn't have anyone with experience to help him at the other end. Instead of focusing on trying to get Kohli out, England should have been targeting the other end.

Brilliant knock from both Jadhav and Kohli. Let's see how Kohli does from now on with the pressure of captaining all formats of the game. I hope it doesn't affect his batting.

Still not convinced with the current team. I think the playing XI looking ahead to the CT should be:

1. Rahul
2. Rohit Sharma
3. Kohli
4. Rahane
5. Yuvraj/Raina
6. Dhoni
7. Pandya
8. Ashwin
9. Jadeja
10.Bhuvaneshwar
11. Shami

Pog,

How can you forget Jadhav who played such an amazing inning recently and you included Yuvi/Raina old failures. Can't believe our selectors too giving endless chances to these idiots. Time to move on and give new players who are also performing given such few chances. I don't trust much Rohit or Rahane either in shorter formats. We have players who deserve lot more than these folks..

I also think Bumrah should be included in bowling department..

Still think broad should be in the odi team at least for the champions trophy. A bowling attack of Willey, broad, wood, stokes, Ali and root stronger than what is out in India. Drop rashid and get an extra batsman bairstow or billings in the side.

England won the toss.. At-least they can't make that excuse now if they get defeated gain!
