big big blow-I always think Dier plays better in a 5 rather than a 4. so in my view, Wimmer in setr for a stint

Wimmer will slot in seamlessly & don't forget Davies can also play in a back 3. It would also leave him less exposed to pace on the flanks, which is Davies weakness.

I think we will be okay & are fortunate to have stregth in depth for our defence.

Shame. Lucky enough Toby escaped the same injury when he got clattered seconds before Verts done his ankle. If both were out I'd be worried but Wimmer seems more than capable along side him. Could be a big season for CCV as well.

This is bad news

Is Khumalo still at the club ?

Of course, I forgot Carters-Vickers, who is getting better every time he plays!

Wimmer can still come in and do a good job. He'll have to.

Yeah he does. Perfect scenario to help with his progression if he gets minutes off the bench over the next couple of months. Gotta be a starter against the mighty Wanderers.

If you survived few weeks without Alderweireld, then surely you can cope without Vert.

We can cope without Vert, Wimmer was good last season and Davies was brilliant for Wales in the LCB position

Least it'll keep Wimmer happy and stop him wanting to run away in the summer

Let's wait for news from the official site rather than journalistic guesswork

You'll be waiting for ever as the club never give specific timescales

It depends on the degree of sprain to the damaged ligaments.

First degree sprain -

Stretching and minimal tearing cause mild pain, difficulty walking, tenderness, and swelling. There is no bruising or loss of function. Recovery time is four to six weeks.

Second degree sprain -

A tearing sensation, or a pop or snap is felt. There is swelling and tenderness in the ankle. Bruising begins three to four days after the injury. Walking may be moderately difficult. Recovery time is four to eight weeks.

Third degree sprain -

At the time of the injury, the joint may slip out of place and then back in. There is massive swelling, severe tenderness and instability in the joint. Walking may not be possible. Surgery is sometimes necessary. Recovery time is six to 12 weeks.

So best case is 1 month out and worst case is 3 months out.

does this mean we can whine like the scousers about having an injured player and forever refer to our team lineup as 'a weakened team'
