Next, we'll be reading how we beat the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool etc. Sure they were good results, but did it get us anywhere? Nah. Football produces all kinds of upsets and results. Who would have thought Leicester would have won the league last season?

Take this season. Who would have thought we'd go to Newcastle and beat 'em, then lose at home to QPR. Just shows you that football is a "funny ol' game"

posted on 20/1/17

It is great we beat those sides, but step back and look at it, we beat all those top sides that season but survived on goal difference?!?!?!?!?

That tells me that something was fundamentally wrong because there is no way you should beat those sides and stay up on goal difference.

Anyway, pointless argument, we had our chance and blew it BIG time but whilst a handful here will blame anything but the manager the conversation is pointless.

What is agenda ridden is the stance that McCarthy did no wrong., on one side you have those that say he did a great job getting us promoted but then failed in the prem and on the other you have the nonsense that all was rosy and not a bad word can be said against him, it is quite clear which side has the agenda.

There is not a manager in the league that gets all he wishes, we signed 23 players and maybe two or three had any impact, that is a feckin disgrace at any level.

We stagnated, it isn't hard to fathom out why, we trotted out the same mediocre players week after week regardless of performance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have never said he didn't do anything wrong. He made mistakes such as the captaincy change and he had his limitations. He was nowhere near as bad as people like you, Perton and Sunny make out. Neither was he as good as Bute says.

He was the best manager we have had for generations though. He lead us to our highest place finish in the last 40 years or so. I prefer to remember those good times he gave us and also acknowledge that there was something fundamentally wrong with the club, which went much further than McCarthy.

Of course no manager gets all the players he wants, but when a manager consistently misses out on signing the better players and ends up with the bargain basement stuff from relegated clubs, you should be looking beyond him. Unless of course you are only looking to blame him.

We have had a problem with first team player recruitment ever since he left. I'm sure some would still want to blame McCarthy for that too.

If you don't think your stance is agenda ridden then more fool you. The percentage of your posts which are anti-McCarthy or about Ipswich are probably proportionate to the amount of pro McCarthy stuff Bute posts.

I won't post anymore on this as certain people (such as yourself) are like a broken record on him. There would be more chance of me getting a rational debate with a staunch Brexit supporter and remain voter.

Whatever you say Tam.

I personally will always look back on that time with anger and frustration, we had it, we were there and we did feckin nothing, literally next to nothing for three seasons.

You can rejoice in that, i won't, we fecked it up massively and i hold the manager at least 50% responsible as it was he putting those guys on the pitch each week.

I wouldn't care if i didn't have to read such bullshat about those times on here every now and again, like we lost some kind of hero, it is pathetic.

As i said, you remember those good times all you want, i will remember them but also be feckin angry we blew it thanks to pee poor management and recruitment.

So you are saying he wasn't the best manager we had in generations. That he didn't lead us to the highest place finish for 40 years?

That isn't rejoicing. That is a statement of fact.

Using words like rejoice to exaggerate an opposing argument is a good way of attempting to discredit it though. Congratulations on that. Maybe some day you will learn to rationalise in a more reasoned way, rather than thinking in binary; making everything being brilliant or shat.

Not sure what the kid from Worthing is spouting on about, but probably singing MM's praises. I think you're right in not only blaming him for our demise. There was a rumour going around back then, that Sir Jack was repaid about 20m from the extra money we got for being in the top flight. And yes, money was spent badly by the club on certain players.

posted on 20/1/17

Surprised ol' Butey hasn't joined in, but then again I've got him and the kid filtered.

posted on 20/1/17

Rationalise my ass, it is the same shat every time, nobody can say a bad word about the guy without being jumped all over.

Yes, he is our best for quite some time, which tells you how bad we have been, especially when you wake up and realise our best still leaves us behind 30+ other clubs since the prems inception, it is embarrassing that some use it as some kind of accomplishment.

We failed, AGAIN, the end, and a big part of that is down to having a manager that has shown he isn't good enough for that level.

Perhaps you should look things up before commenting. Assuming is never a good thing to do.

I haven't sung MM's praises. I have posted facts and rationale about how the lack of signings were a sign of things being wrong behind the scenes and not entirely Mick's fault.

Although to read Cinci's posts back, you would have thought I had been dancing in the streets today at the thought of Mick's reign.

He also has refrained from any real criticism of McCarthy for a change.

Happily let it die until i read the usual bullshat, then it gets my hump, makes me feckin sick to be honest listening to the shat as if we lived through some incredible time, even more comically when people defend that third season shambles as if McCarthy had nothing to do with it.

But yet you were banging the drum louder than anyone regarding wanting him sacked.

Funny that.
