Net spend over last 5 years -Top six

My article has been hijacked by intelligent, sensible posters - what has gone wrong ? Have the schoolkids used up their 30 minutes on their mums' computers and are now being bathed ready to be put to bed ?

As I said though, if you are a Spurs fan and you have Arsenal fans in your ear, bragging about how they've finished above you for so long, it's a relevant thing to raise.
==========
That has largely come from the "mind the gap" banter though. When we were fighting United for titles there wasn't much of that at all - and then after the stadium move we had the "best" net spend around until Ozil signed.

Staggering that when you consider Man City also pay around £100m a year more in wages than Spurs. Roughly £900m more spent (net) than Spurs in the last 5 years

There would be far more kudos in the way Spurs are trying to achieve things, having spent hundreds of millions less than their rivals.

In terms of wages we spend 40 million more than Everton, that's shows the massive gap between us and them now.
I remember when we were even to them and they had a bigger wage bill than us, shows how we've pushed on massively compared.

Puffin why did you use an african name for absolutely no reason to try and make an awfully crap joke on the Nike sponsorship thread? Bit of casual racism?

Don`t worry, the Mousers are guaranteed to turn up, there is always a mug like Terminator hanging around to provide us with some absolute comedy gold.

Spurs have a billionaire owner and have no financial worries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lewis only owns 60.4% of Spurs

Enic have 85.66% of Spurs
Lewis has 60.6% of ENIC

If he bankrolled Spurs he would be subsidising the other 39.6% of shareholders
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How can Joe Lewis own 60,4% of Spurs and ENIC own 85.66%?

Joe Lewis owns 70.4% of ENIC (I corrected this immediately after)

70.4% of 85.66% is 60.4%

Grrrr

Lewis owns 70.6% of ENIC, not 70.4%

My 1st thought is that Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea sell their best players (or too many players)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In that 5 year period, Bale went against our will, the rest were sold as we no longer wanted them.

To me it shows that Spurs sell/move on players very well and also make good money from their academy products as well

By big spenders, I mean the clubs that by your own admission spend double the wages you do, let alone the additional transfer fees.

You say there's no reason why a well run club can't have a good crack - we'll see in 10 years time.

I suspect we'll look back and see that the 'big spenders' have dominated and Spurs will do extremely well to win one or two trophies in that time, unless your spending changes.

You are possibly looking at your 3rd season in 4 below us, and your 3rd in 4 without qualifying for the CL.

That from the richest club in the world.

We consistently finish above Liverpool.

It would be churlish to suggest Hull could have a good crack, but Spurs have enough dough behind them to compete with the big spenders. Teams can only have 25 players in a squad

We'll see.

History currently suggests that isn't generally the case.

Nonce Sense, Luiz was unreal in the CL run
----------------------------------------------------------------------
nope, was good in the final and a few other times but on the whole he was shaky, error prone and was utlitied in different positions because of this.
