It's not like they aren't trying"
Trying is all good mate but i would like to see us win something for once. I'm not saying the league because that's such a hard task but surely our club are capable of winning the Fa cup or even Europa with the team we have.
Surely the current situation is about long term success.
Once you have the new stadium then I am sure negative net transfers will be a thing of the past.
I see spurs lifting silverware pretty soon why not,the clubs being run well as far as I can see problem is theres 6 clubs pretty much on the same level at the minute

But so are many other teams capable of winning these.
We want trophies, the team want trophies but going out and doing it isn't easy.
Also what do you want happened when you think enough is enough?

All the other sides have no problem winning trophies. Even United who were abysmal under LVG managed to win the FA cup and that's because the club breeds success. We as a club need to adopt this attitude and i feel we are in our right mind to expect trophies at spurs. You can only go on year in year out saying "we are building" before you say enough is enough
When i feel enough is enough is the time we go out and spent 50 million on that world class player that will put us up to the next level. When we move into this stadfium we will have the funds to do this.

It's a big reason why our top players eventually leave ( Modric, Bale and Berbatov).
-------
you are deluded if you think winning an FA cup would have stopped berbatov wanting to go to man u and bale wanting to go to real Madrid
You're not wrong Don. We need trophies to reflect how good we are and have been playing this past year and a half. Levy could also help by adding some genuine quality if possible to give ourselves the best chance of it, if we are to fall short in any of the competitions we're going for.
Would be a huge waste if we came out of this period with a top defence, very good midfield, and one of the most in form strikers in the league.
....with nothing to show for it.

--------
the customary dig at levy from spurtle, despite the absolutely drastic improvement in spurs on and off the pitch since he took over
Keane and Berbatov left after winning a trophy
Would Harry Kane be more likely to leave if we won the FA Cup and finished 6th, or narrowly missed out on a title? I would say the former as we are more likely to compete for trophies in the future if we are a title contender

we could win 5 titles in a row, all our players would still be off as soon as real Madrid or barca came knocking. including Kane. every player in the world wants to play for those two
"Levy could also help by adding some genuine quality if possible to give ourselves the best chance of it, if we are to fall short in any of the competitions we're going for."
Levy spent best part of £50m on players poch wanted in the summer.
Whether they are good enough isn't levy but poch is fault
The quality is there now in the squad (apart from CF cover for Kane ) to win trophies.
It's a mental thing now, making the step from being contenders to winners.
You can definitely see an improvement there in the last few games, brushing aside the lower sides who could be banana skins, seeing out the game against Chelsea comfortably and absolutely destroying a team who were our bogey side.
Well, if Spurs do go on and win something, then there will be far more kudos and notability attached to it than any of our rivals, giving that Spurs spend far less each season.
I think the quality is there now and i see no reason why we shouldn't win and expect trophies with the current squad we have.
If the club are not spending money we dont have then that's fine by me.
We don't have the resources to (a) attract the very best and (b) pay them the stupid going rate.
Look at City's wage bill, its well over double ours. Look at their spending. Currently we are matching them on the pitch. Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd, they've all spent very big over the last few years
We have had our fingers burnt when a windfall has come our way, and despite the quality of signings (Soldado was the highest scorer in La Liga over the previous 2 seasons) there is no guarantee that it will bring success.
Money doesnt always = silverware. Wigan and Pompey certainly have no big resources and have won the FA Cup more recently that us and other big clubs.
You have to ask ourselves, was the Bale/Modric/VDV squad good enough to win a trophy? Is the current squad? and the answer has to be 100%
In the past we have failed to do it because we have not taken things seriously enough, or just slipped up on the day but rarely has it been due to a lack of quality in the squad.
The big change that needs to be made is the team picked for matchday. I think our squad is better placed for a bit of rest and rotation, if, for example, we had Palace(h) like we did in last years FA Cup. BUT we have to take these games seriously.
As for the league, its a very difficult one to call. Currently I would not change our XI for any other player we could reasonably expect to attract to the club. It would be nice to have genuine cover for Eriksen & Kane, but really it is hard to attract similar quality, unless we pay fortunes, and then will they sit on the bench for their chance
Overall i think we can win any of the cup competitions if we really commit to them. There is luck of the draw etc. Can we win the league with this group....i suppose if the key men stay fit its possible, nothing guarantees it, not even Pep and £100m's spent
