Strange you should think that Blackman is a better option that Russell considering that he can only score from the penalty spot. Vydra is hardly a resounding success yet people remain optimitic about him despite the evidence of their eyes. Is Anya better than Russell? Yet to see any great performances from him. Basically our acquisition of players since we reached the play off final has been awful, hence why we are not in the Premier league.
I'm afraid to say I agree with Spart ... our signings over the last couple of years have been far from inspiring and, equally, I have yet to see any significant sustained improvement in many of the individual players we have had here for longer.
Russell, whilst industrious, has not proven to be anything special other than on rare occasions.
I don't mind who leaves, except Will Hughes - he is quality!

We should understand that the constraints of FFP mean that we'll have to gamble on cheaper 'maybe' players like Weimann, Blackmann, Camara etc to supplement the big-money transfer successes of the likes of Johnson, Butterfield, and Vydra.

Not every signing will be a good one irrespective of the cost: Man U are a prime example of spending not guaranteeing any level of success, but we do seem to have a hit rate that's comparable to Conor Sammon's. It all comes down to opinion; we are often split on the merits of a new arrival be it for the squad or the coaching role and so we appreciate it isn't an exact science but F me, we seem to be particulary bad at it of late.
On the plus-side, it's not like we're Forest fans

Is Russell better than Anya? Just how many great performances have we seen from Russell in all the seasons he's been at Derby?

Jorvik. Seen better performances from Russell than Anya. Don't you recall 2013 when Russell and Ward tore opposition defences to pieces. What about demolition Derby day. How about against Chelsea when Russell came on and terrorised the Chelsea full back and we looked like causing a shock until they got Bucko sent off. Russell can at least head a ball.Yet to see Anya get close to heading a ball.

You're talking about a handful of performances ALL in the past, Russell hasn't built on those performances & improved himself, he still manages to hit row Z more often than he does the target
