Yes, but he is no where ready to be the replacement.

As I understand he is quality , but experience is something he is yet to gain.

To be fair the guy Atletico have now, Oblak, isn't half bad. If you could get him I doubt it would make much difference.

He could go to Real Madrid though. Then Navas becomes available. He's also very good although probably not as suited as Oblak to Pl football.

Cech isn't all that tbh

The Benfinca keeper would be a good signing for you. Can't remember his name but been incredible this season. Chelsea have a good record signing players from Portugal

It was the worst possible message you could send out to players about club loyalty towards its legends.

That's nonsense mate, Cech wasn't playing, wanted to be number 1 and Chelsea agreed to sell him to a London rival as he wanted to stay in the city.

Think it showed lots of class from Chelsea to a player who had served them so well.

Cech isn't all that good, err he never put a foot wrong at Cfc, maybe its the company he's mixing with now effecting his game.

calm down m8.

All players decline and Cech was showing signs of that towards the end with you. He's definitely not as good now as he was in his prime for you. His positioning is still good but he's too slow to get down to the shots and is beaten at his near post more than he should be.

Knee, talk blx as per usual.

The club had invested a lot into Courtois , when he eventually came back from something like a four season loan, JM gave priority.

Cech was put out to dry at a time where his game was good as ever, thats the start of the issue.

Yes and of course if the club are saying were going with the younger player , of course Cech wanted out.

My point is Cech was not loosing his quality and for a player who had been so loyal , to trade him for another player who couldn't be counted on was wrong.

Its about loyalty Imo , please explain to me what was the problem with Cech ?

Sometimes you've got to be loyal and this saga Imo stinks and exposes , part of what at times is wrong at Cfc.

So jolly, you don't feel his has been an important addition.

look mate you can't hang the fact your club are serial bottlers in every competition and Cech.

He moved to you to stay in London.

It was a terrible decision to sell him to Arsenal. Should have been a team abroad

Skip I talk nothing but sense

My point is that the club were good to him to sell him to Arsenal as many clubs wouldn't do this, but cause Cech had been a valued member of the club for so long Roman sanctioned a move to Arsenal, a rival who needed a good keeper.

As for loyalty from the club I guess they looked at it and felt they had a good young keeper who was ready to step up to be the number 1, with this being the case then that leaves Cech sitting on the bench, he's too good a player to be number 2 so then wanted to leave.

Plenty of clubs wouldn't have sold him to a rival, so that was nice of chelsea to do so

So relax and debate, no need to insult, a game you won't win with me

tbh Cech hasn't been all that great for Arsenal. you sold him at the right time. technically still good but far too slow. can see ospina taking over next season
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's definitely not as great as he once was and has looked slightly slower this season than before. Even only being fractions slower can make a huge difference for a keeper.

I don't think that Cech has been any improvement on Ospina who was in great form during the 14/15 season before Cech replaced him.

He's been a solid addition. I'd say a slight improvement on Wojiech. He has won us points with some really good performances but he's also lost us points by letting in goals which he should save on more than a few occasions. He concedes way too many goals at his near post.

'Bottlers' is the most overused phrase around. The main reasons we haven't challenged for the league have been injuries to key players and a lack of quality in certain areas of the pitch. Without Cazorla our central midfield is certainly lacking.

Replacing Cech definitely isn't our first priority but I think we could do better. There's definitely a case for dropping him for Ospina.

Knee, of course fair play, but at the end of the day the least the club was give him the move to a club of his choice.

The player is a club legend , not just another player.

He was at root of the most successful period in the clubs history , put his body on the line season after season, and was loyal as the day is long.

I think at the time i didn't want to sell Cech to Arsenal because Cech still had it.

No he wasn't as good as he was since the head injury BUT he was still in the top 3 GKs in the league and for me he was a complete professional. He deserved to stay in London and go to Arsenal and we as a club did 100% the right thing.

I have always voiced my opinion on Courtois since he came back from Atletico that he is vastly overrated on this board, it feels that people do it to justify him being better than Cech when in actual fact he's probably as good as him now but not fit to lace Cechs boots before the head injury.

Courtois doesn't come close

If we sell him in the summer, yes it'll be annoying because we choose that prlck over a club legend like Cech, what, 2-3 years ago?

I'd take Cech back, yes he's not as good as he used to be but lads and ladies that's called age and let's be honest, he's still one of the best in the league

Don't mention Navas... he's got Claudio Bravo 2 written all over him
