A more equal spread of national wealth and social justice will only happen with a banking collapse.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not necessarily. A banking collapse could lead a multitude of different outcomes.

Care to elaborate/theorise?

Well, society could just descend into anarchy/chaos with no solid government. Politics could also take a major shift towards the right. It would all depend on the circumstances and how severe the banking collapse is.

Labour handled the last banking crisis well in 2007.

Our JSA dept had to double staff numbers to handle unemployment increases.

Given the massive crash in the States, UK markets (also abetted by the toothless FSA - now FCA) would have been hit regardless of government policy.

For what it's worth, Labour and the Tories weren't worlds apart on how to best manage the crisis.

Speaking of jobs, I see that 70-odd percent state-owned RBOS is outsourcing a few to the Indian subcontinent at the expense of British workers

So that Tory witch is giving the DUP 1bn to keep herself in power

FFS them cants will have a Trump esque wall built between ROI and NI before they burn it back down on the 11th night

They are still cshitting on the people with the fuel allowance and pensions scheme. At what point do you say we deserve to have our NHS cut etc? Why does Britain keep on voting in self serving schum?

It goes back to my previous post about education is guess....

Shocking figures. Goes to show IMO that military intervention is not the best way to combat terrorism and - by extension - save lives. Unless some lives are less equal than others.

Nice to see Muslim fighters removing Isis from Iraq, and syria.

Disturbing rise of Isis inspired violence across the he world however.

Do Ameican forces actually target civilians, BTW?

I find it weird that so many Muslim people want to come to the west, after we spend our time killing them?

Newsnight was good yesterday, highlighting how islamist extremists were appeased and ignored by liberal Britain,,to the point where hate preachers and fundamentalists were given a free run....now, and from 2007 they have been murdering us and going off to murder abroad.

When did we invade the Phillipines last, as Isis are growing there, forcing 300,000 from homes?

Islamists just want to create global caliphates, removing other faith groups and dissent.

Where do they get their ideas from?

Probably not intentionally (well there have been a few high profile cases suggesting otherwise lower down the chain of command), but there's definitely a callous disregard for civilian lives. It's not helped by remote warfare techniques which are less precise and more dehumanising. The collateral damage that the USA has inflicted during its war on terror has probably far outstripped that which they're trying to protect against. Makes you wonder. Of course, some might suggest there were other more ulterior motives behind those wars...

Was that about al-Muhajiroun? I don't think it's so much a failing of liberal Britain as it was of general western democracies, with their free speech and justice systems that are geared towards the principle of innocent until proven guilty. Principles which are designed to protect us from tyrannical governments. People like Anjem Choudhary knew the law very well and were very careful not to explicitly encourage anything illegal. They focused more on whipping up resentment and division, then stepping away and leaving those brainwashed individuals to take their hate to its logical conclusion. Similar to modern far right tactics in that there's a constant drip feed of stories and sentiment designed to encourage a polarised, paranoid, us vs them mentality, with themes of good vs evil, victimhood and a sense that the system is against them. People then feel they have to take matters into their own hands, without you even having to tell them so.

When you use drones to attack a region of any country, you WILL get collateral damages, regardless of how advanced your technology is. US led the world in drone strikes. No surprise there.

It's not like our soldiers are going out to and committing mass genocides because they feel like it.

This.

Obama was pres when up to 25,000 drones were fired, but he was cool, so the truth is rarely discussed.

Those using western foreign policy to understand islamist extremism make little effort to understand western foreign policy.

As always, buddy.

The west has messed up so many times, for various reasons, and human kind has a habit of being nasty,,greedy and silly.

Innocent Muslims are stuck in the middle and suffer most,,then some racist planks here decide to attack Muslims for Isis crimes.

It has nothing to do with Brexit. And everything to do with this Government's rank hypocrisy, callous disregard for British workers and obsession with lubricating the wheels of corporate profiteering for the 1%.
