Just need them to divest their stock in all animal agriculture-related business now...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Many years ago, a guy who'd worked for some church-related fund told me he was scandalised to find that they had investments in companies involved in nuclear arms manufacturing.

If they've made their way all the way down to fossil fuels, then I'd like to imagine they divested from the arms industry a long time ago too.

"God forbid" this fossil fuels lark being just a smokescreen...

This dude obtained an illegal automatic rifle. The gun laws we already have clearly failed too.
===========================================================
So I saw some news last night suggesting that this is a disingenuous argument. According to the report I saw, his entire arsenal was legally obtained.

What was suggested was that it is indeed illegal to modify the guns to be automatic, but the parts required to do so can be easily and legally obtained, even though they serve no other purpose than an illegal one.

I'm not an expert on this, so stand to be corrected if the report is wrong, but declaring something illegal while openly selling the means to do it is a classic piece of fig-leaf legislation, would you not say?

Yes, having sympathy and compassion for the innocent victims of a mass murder.

What a doofus.

Man up eh??

It's an act. .
Kimmel did the whole "I'm so traumatized and upset I can barely speak" schtick after the Charlottesville rally too.
He starts the show like that and then talks fairly normally barely a minute later.

So for him to be genuinely upset about a mass murder he has to behave differently?

If you are seeking falseness turn in the Tory Conference now
Theresa May is making a sickly sweet awful speech
=======================================================
I find it impossible to watch her interviews or speeches. She makes me cringe, every time.
I suspect that underneath, she’s decent, and competent (maybe boringly so, but genuinely dedicated), but her public persona just has me chewing the cushions.

Party conference speeches in general need to be watched with a sick-bag to hand anyway.

I'd just imagine that if he were genuinely upset, he would appear that way throughout the show and not just for the first two minutes.

The Sniper

I didn’t see the whole show. Was he discussing the atrocity for its duration? Or only during the opening segment when he became upset?

If the latter would it not be expected for him to get on with the show in a professional manner?

The only person who can answer if he was ‘playing up’ and not upset is Kimmel himself. And given the brutality and nature of the attack, even if you have misgivings, is he not deserving of the benefit of some considerable doubt?

============================================================
I think the correct response is rage with the murderer (on the grounds that he’s opened up the gun-laws to question again). Compassion for the victims is acceptable, but only if it’s low-key.

‘Management’ of the response is carefully considered, in these cases, in case it leads to the wrong political conclusions. This is a particularly tricky one, because as yet no motive has been determined, so it’s not yet quite certain which political agenda it fits, or which response is politically correct.

Yeah, you might be right. I'm quite a cynical b@stard though which makes me question everyone's motives.

The only one Kimmel may be genuinely upset about was the healthcare rant he had a couple months ago. His newborn child had some sort of health issue.

Everything else is borderline. His ratings spikes whenever something like this happen and he breaks down in tears so who the hell knows at this point.

Jimmy crying about murder and then at the same time inviting on a mass murdering war criminal who has killed millions to have a chat and joke about his time in the White House.

Did anybody watch his interview with George W Bush? Truly sickening.

The middle east in Black and white.......no objectivity here, and partially explains why we have hatred, violence and death in the world!

The American people are being butchered by mass shootings at an ever increasing rate correlating with the increasing number of firearms in circulation.

The vast majority of these lives have been taken by people using firearms purchased legally.

Why is the American public not outraged that administration after administration has done nothing to stop this happening, and what is it going to take for the American people to wake the fack up?
