Protestant Christians believe that the bible is the word of God. Written through men, inspired by God.
Everything that God wants to say to mankind can be found in the bible.
Authentic Christianity is actually about a relationship with God, not about rules and regulations, it's not about how good you are, what commands you keep or not keep.
There is NOTHING you can do to earn salvation, no amount of prayers, no amount of good things you may do, going to church etc.
That's what separates the all religions from Christianity (not Catholicism though)
Back to politics for a minute (should there be a separate religion thread, because for me at least, things rarely tend to work out well when religion and politics are combined...).
From the Indy:
'David Davis has risked angering Brexit voters after admitting the UK will not suddenly shut the door on workers coming in from the EU.
The Brexit Secretary said it could take “years and years” for Britain to fill all the jobs that would otherwise have been done by EU immigrants coming to the UK to work.
His comments were apparently aimed at calming fears in Europe of a sudden shift in policy that might affect EU citizens in the UK, but drew angry comments from Leave campaigners who said their referendum victory was based on a promise of falling immigration rates.
Speaking on a visit to Estonia, Mr Davis said: “In the hospitality sector, hotels and restaurants, in the social-care sector, working in agriculture, it will take time. It will be years and years before we get British citizens to do those jobs.
“Don’t expect just because we’re changing who makes the decision on the policy, the door will suddenly shut – it won’t.”'

Anyone who is remotely surprised by this news needs their head testing. The UK has a very rapidly ageing population. People are living much longer at the same time that more young Brits are choosing to go childless and more and more are seeking opportunities for a life overseas.
People need to accept that if the quality of life of those in their later years is to be maintained - their pensions supported by economic growth, the cost of living controlled - we are going to need to continue to import working age immigrants, primarily to do the jobs that Brits can't or won't do.
This isn't a case of "years and years", it's an ongoing requirement.

Not all of them.
Here are some of my picks from the DM website this morning:
"this must end and from outside the EU as well we don't want our culture diluted don't con us again we are not in the mood do what we want or get out of power"
"Well whats the point in going through all this hassle of breaking away from the EU then, !!!!"
"I'm sorry but you will be voted out then, I want migration stopped, it is not sustainable and the current rate"
"The immigration door should be shut immediately. Then a period of assessment should take place and a system established that will serve the British people best. Then the door can be opened for those we need. We certainly don't need Albanian murderers or Big Isdue sellers."
"Please stop tarring all British people with the same brush. My son tried for 18 months week in week out to get a job. Often a migrant was chosen over him. This is not unusual."
"The only industries I've noticed growth of in the past 5 -10 years is car washes, begging, accordian playing, street 'artists', Cash for clothes, Big Issue selling, charity shops"
And my personal favourite so far...
"It was backpackers, school kids and seasonal workers who covered the jobs being talked about before. Immigrants came and even took paper round jobs that school kids did. They probably got more money and more breaks than the immigrants get now but the immigrants caused all those problems to themselves. So I wish people would stop saying there is nobody else who will do these jobs when we all know there isn't now because the immigrants took those jobs from those who always did it before. Let's here some truths."
Let's hear it from tbab, then...

I follow the BBC news page on Facebook. The comments section, (over the last couple of years) now have a 'Daily Mail' feel to it.
I remember distinctly, after the horrific picture of that Syrian boy washed up on a beach in Turkey was released, many comments, (from seemingly ordinary Brits) were abhorrent. Vile stuff. Similar comments relating to that boy in the back of the Syrian ambulance.
Depressing how dehumanised some people have become.
